At around 1:21:18 mark, PJ revealed that he was offended from the Bucks’ desire to just match whatever he’ll receive in the market as an UFA. This led him to to ultimately leave. After he inked with the Heat, he stated that he was desperate to face us in the playoffs in the 2021-22 season.
Too bad we weren’t able to face them since Khris got hurt. But for now, I’m happy that my dog got paid before he ends his career
All love for PJ. Regardless of the contract talks that happened, he’ll always be our dawg đđ¶

We’ve known this for quite a while. It’s kinda sad to see the bucks org dragged by PJ for what seemingly is not a big deal at all…. Like we’d match any contract offer he got? How exactly is that offensive?

If my employer today said we’ll match any new job offer you get, I’d be thrilled
Yeah especially bc youâll get paid more either way. It seems like a pretty common thing in the nba too, I donât get it
Still don’t understand why he was offended by the front office saying they would match….? How is that disrespect? lol
With all due respect, I not sure I could think of a more braindead reason to leave a team that just won the championship⊠Thatâs literally how free agency works lol. If anything we did him a favor allowing the bidding on him to go up and giving him a chance for more money. Happy he got paid tho, but if you just wanted to be in Miami say that.
Gotta be the biggest cop out of a reason to leave ever
Thanks for the ring PJ, but youâre a goddamn moron
If the Bucks make an offer instead, there is probably a better than fifty percent chance he’s offended by a “lowball” offer even if it’s in the same ballpark of what he got from Miami. Props to him leaving on his own choice while convincing the majority of people that he’s the victim.
With all due respect to PJ who I love, he looked like a dude giving his last in the 21 playoffs. He looked just about cooked. He happened to follow it up with an outlier season, possibly the best of his career on the Heat, but during the 2021 off-season you would be crazy if you expected anything near that.
Another thing to consider is that the Bucks simply matching his offer would not have been equal due to Florida not having income tax. They would have to had to offer quite a bit more for it to have been equivalent.
Looking at his comments about signing with Miami and Philadelphia and he played a bunch of the Bucks fan base like a fiddle.
On signing with Miami:
âLast year, I trained in Miami. So this has been a long time coming. Iâm super excited.â

“Though he was disappointed with the way things played out, Tucker isn’t harboring any sort of a grudge against Miami. Instead, he reflects fondly on his time with the team.
“But I don’t fault them at all,” Tucker said. “I understand they didn’t want to be hard-capped and wanted to be able to make moves later with whatever they thought the team may need. … It was fun. It’s just one of those experiences I’ll remember.”
Somehow after a career year in Miami, he’s not pissed at Miami not giving him the full mid-level and about $6 million less than the Sixers. Even understands the hard cap and roster flexibility for why they weren’t aggressive. Somehow though it’s different with Milwaukee because they said we’ll match what you get. Miami didn’t even do that but he’s cool with them. If they disrespected him like Milwaukee did, he would have gotten the full mid-level from Miami.
Itâs only an issue when teams not located in Miami or Los Angeles do business in a normal, NBA way. Youâll never see current NBA players mad at the Lakers or Heat organizations regardless of how theyâre treated. Bucks acted how any team would in the same circumstances, yet Iâm supposed to feel theyâre the villains in this story?
