What does Dario Šarić bring to Warriors? His time with Chris Paul may offer a glimpse

Snippets:
>There were several phone calls pitching Šarić on the partnership, from the front office to Kerr to their established veterans to assistant coach Dejan Milojević, who knows Šarić and will surely work closely with him.

>There’s another appealing element to the Šarić addition for the Warriors. He spent a season and a half in Phoenix playing next to Chris Paul, the Warriors’ other high-profile offseason addition. He’s comfortable with Paul and should form the backbone of the Warriors’ new older and more methodical second unit.

>Šarić scored off 41 Paul assists the season the Suns won the West. When Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton left the floor, it was often Šarić running a two-man game with Paul up top. He isn’t the explosive lob threat that centers like DeAndre Jordan or Tyson Chandler once were for Paul, but he’s worked well with all types of pick-and-roll partners. Šarić is a skilled big who can pick-and-pop capably and slip into a crack for layups.

>Šarić can fit into just about any lineup combination, but his second unit pairing with Kuminga is one that should intrigue. The numbers always suggested Kuminga worked well next to Lamb a season ago because of Lamb’s ability to spread the floor and pass. That’ll be Šarić’s presumed role. You can already envision the Warriors opening the second and fourth quarter with a Paul/Thompson/Moses Moody/Kuminga/Šarić lineup and maybe even running some Kuminga-Paul pick-and-rolls with Thompson, Moody and Šarić spaced.

Dario brings something very simple which is more playable lineups. 6’10, can space the floor at a consistent rate, and now you have a C Rotation of Dario, Looney, Dray and can slot Dario in at the 4 at times beside Looney or Dray since that’s his natural position anyways

Dray talked about CP3 unlocking Kuminga, but with a stretch big like Saric on the floor with them, I think they both will unlock Kuminga’s game ***even more***. Kuminga szn incoming! 🙏

Glad you posted, read this earlier – a really good article.

Saric taking his time making the decision takes some of the wind out of the sails, but glad we landed the top guy we were targeting to address stretch big. We didn’t have an OPJ or Bjelica and it definitely showed last year. jMG just never got played. If Saric fills the void, he’s going to get a ton of play time and be consistently one of the first guys off the bench
