[Wojnarowski] The 76ers are matching Paul Reed’s three-year, $23M offer sheet with the Jazz, sources tell ESPN. Per sheet’s terms, Sixers must guarantee last two years of Reed’s deal if they win the opening round of playoffs this season.

Glad I haven’t hyped him up yet, so I don’t really care. He wouldn’t of gotten minutes because at Power Forward, and Center minutes John, Walker, Olynyk, Taylor, maybe even at times Lauri will be getting Power Forward, and Center minutes too

I still wonder what the Jazz will do with that salary. Maybe offer Kelly Oubre a 2 year 16 million dollar contract, second year a team option, to see if he plays good, to then trade him for a first, or if he plays bad, decline the second year

Bummer. Hopefully this means there’s more opportunity for Hendricks to get minutes though

Pretty sure this was just Ainge realizing he had the cap space available to just fuck with the Sixers.

    Corey Maggette

    Jason Terry

    Paul Reed

Who else has had a matched offer sheet from the Jazz

Remember back in the day when we had to wait like 2 weeks for RFA decisions? Thought we had Corey Maggette

I kinda can’t believe it tbh. really will make Philadelphia’s job a little more tough

Hell Yeah! This was for that very poorly officiated Jazz Sixers game a few years ago. Fuck Philly!

This was a win win offer sheet by the Jazz. Either we got a proven, young small ball Center/PF to add to our depth or there’s more room for Hendricks to get minutes if he’s ready.

And we got to screw with the Sixers cap and roster flexibility.

I thought we had him for sure. The sixers must be anticipating some cap cutting moves. All the moves they have made, though, scream at making moves for next summer, not this one. If I’m Embiid, I’m kind of pissed. He’s not getting any younger. They signed Harrel back and mo Bamba but let Niang Milton and McDaniels leave. Gutting their depth. They seem to want expiring deals for next summer, which is why I thought they wouldn’t sign Reed to so much money. I think the fans’ reaction sort of forced their hand to some degree. But after retaining one and signing another center, I didn’t think they would need a 4th. Ainge prob thought the same thing.

I was excited to have him join the roster. It would have given us an embarrassment of riches in the front court. I love that the Jazz are willing to make these sorts of moves to improve the team. Or at least try to make them. Paying him anymore than that wouldn’t have made any sense. They made it tough enough with the twists. The sixers probably made a mistake here. They will have to cut or trade to get below the apron now. Harden doesn’t exactly have a piping hot market.

They could be in real trouble or be forced to take back a weak return for good players. Or even worse, be forced to trade Maxey to try and get another star or to facilitate a deal they have to make in order to survive and make their lush next year. I doubt they move Maxey because they really believe in him, but their cap sheet is screwed right now.
