  1. Cronin saying a lot of reasonable shit in this press conference.

  2. BayTerp

Dame single handedly made that trash franchise relevant for a decade. He deserves to get traded to where he wants to go.

  3. Literal_Satan

True but dame doesn’t care about making the blazers happy (rightfully so imo)

  4. APOLLO_EiGhT

Cronin has every right to get most value. Dame has every right to want to choose where he wants to go.

  5. Wedundidit00

It’s hard to defend Dame or his camp here. If the only place he wanted to go was Phoenix, it’d literally be impossible for the Blazers to not get fleeced.

  6. spooks152

Tbf Dame did the blazers dirty as fuck so this is going to be super bitter in terms of how it plays out.

  7. w3bCraw1er

Agree. It’s really bad for the leqgue that the players only want to play for a certain team and if traded elsewhere thry are going to be unhappy.

The real problem here is that the Supermax is inherently flawed as a concept.

Because players can only get bigger contracts by re-signing with their current team, their agents – who get a cut of the contract – will ALWAYS advise them to stay. If they want to go somewhere else, their agents will tell them to stay and demand a trade the following year, because that’s the only way the player and agent get the biggest payout they can.

If the incentives were different, Dame would’ve just gone to a team he actually wanted to play for in free agency. But they’re not, so he didn’t.

Had he asked out before the Draft this would’ve been a lot more smooth but asking out after all the notable free agents signed and Draft limited what both Miami and Portland can do involving another team.

Dame is plummeting and Cronin is ascending…and it’s not wrong. You can’t take the money/years as a player and then try to choose your own adventure. The Blazers are right to sweat “Mr Loyalty” until his contract is up, or they get a decent deal

  11. Prestigious-Rock201

LMFAOOO he’s telling dame increase your teams or you’re staying buddy

  12. canadianRSK

I mean ad to the lakers is a great example of how ot shoukd be done. If dame and miamo want each other miami has to give up what portland wants (as long as its within reason) with miamis assets i dont think they could even over pay

  13. cwesttheperson

I’m still not quite putting it on dame here. He gave Portland so much opportunity compared to any other player. Now it’s a Beal situation. Why Portland should’ve done this one year early vs. one year late. They were just praying it would work last year, obvious it wouldn’t.

  14. Phenom_Mv3

What a great way to send off a franchise icon

  15. TheMoorNextDoor

Portland ain’t this point won’t send him to Miami out of spite even if Miami can get another team on board to get enough “assets” to Portland.

  16. Dame will eventually add a few more teams to his list. Im sure he is uncomfortable in this situation and wants to get this done

  17. ThatBigNoodle

Yep dame requesting a trade was nearly impossible for him to come out looking like the bad guy. Yet he did it

  18. trelos6

Trade his ass to Minnesota for Towns already and call it a day.

  19. Solidus-S-

Y’all sure do like to flip flop between the star being right and the organization being right .

Honestly, I might be the only Blazers fan who wants this, but I hope Dame can get to Miami where he wants to be. We don’t “owe” him that imo, but I would much prefer this split to be amicable, and him being a contender would be nice too. I hope he wins a ring or two and comes back to Portland on a one year at the end of his career after this contract is over. Maybe we’ll have a strong enough team then that we can contend too, who knows. I just don’t want our fanbase and Dame to hate each other when he retires. Plus Miami has some dope jerseys and I rooted them this past postseason, they’re a pretty cool team.

I also don’t have a problem with him having a 1-team list, with the understanding that that might not work out. He’s saying no, I don’t want to play for one of these few teams, I want to play for the Heat. And the Heat can potentially give us what we need so it might work. That being said, him or his agent busting his trade value by saying he won’t report to other teams if he’s traded elsewhere is super lame. Still, I’m keeping my Dame jersey and will root for him in Miami, or wherever he ends up.

Y’all can say what y’all want about Dame being a diva but they literally drafted his replacement with him still on the roster. He’s played in Portland 10+ years for Portland. He doesn’t owe them shit either the same way you all think Portland owes him nothing when picking his destination. The time to trade him was 3 years ago, they’re not going to get a king ransom for him atp. Not saying take the trash MIA offer, but those acting like Dame a diva for wanting to choose his next destination after being blindly loyal to a franchise that was incompetent of ever building a real team around him is hilarious. You’re lying if you saying you wouldn’t try to choose your own destination in his shoes 😭

  22. Mygaffer

All of you here would **NOT** be caping for Cronin if he wasn’t mister nice guy. He straight up lied to Dame and everyone two years running, said he would do whatever it takes, even an overpay, to put talent next to Dame, instead he’s let good role players go and kept young draft picks.

I truly think most people have a very surface level understanding of this situation and just react to the last thing they’ve read.

  23. Rohail01

Dame being chastised for signing the supermax is so weird, he would have got that contract anywhere had he walked – it’s clear there were some promises made that weren’t fulfilled. either way the situation hasn’t been handled great by either party but his hand was clearly forced
