    This is what I was thinking too, and that’s how negotiations go. One side tries to lowball, and the other side tries to ask for too much to start, then eventually the two meet in the middle.

    These negotiations will likely be tenser than usual because we clearly don’t have a superstar package, but I do believe that Dame will eventually get his wish and come here. I just wish a lot of our fans stop taking what Cronin is doing personally and exercise some patience.

    Just because Dame wants to come here doesn’t mean it’ll instantly get done, and Portland will accept the bare minimum for him. Cronin is doing his job trying to maximize what they can get for him, and we’re doing our job trying to see what the minimum we can get him for is. It’ll take some time because both sides will understandably be stubborn.

    Nobody is going to offer anything significant than the Heats offer even if Cronin drags this shit all the way till training camp. Most contending team will rather see what their team is capable off at the beginning of the season than risking their depth and picks (whole farm) for Dame. It’s also within any contending teams best interest to keep his value low just in case Dame include their teams in his destination even if this goes all the way to trade deadline.

    Don’t get me wrong, Dame is an elite player and he can sure improve any team all day long but there’s also not a lot of demand at point guards for most teams especially at the start of the season. That can change by the trade deadline were players get injured or some teams underperform then there’s suddenly a demand. Like lets say Trae Young got injured then all of a sudden the Hawks might offer something to the Blazers by the trade deadline. It’s the Supply/Demand of guards (Blazers have like 3 more lmao) and Dame having only one preferred place is what killing his trade value rn and all of this ain’t going to change even at the start of training camp were most teams rosters already locked in.
