Pacers Emerge As Serious Trade Candidate For Pascal Siakam From Raptors



The Atlanta Hawks have also logged interest in Siakam, while other teams could also emerge.

Siakam has signaled a preference to remain with the Raptors, but the departure of Fred VanVleet is believed to have led the team to prefer giving more runway to Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby.

“The Raptors are indeed far more prepared to surrender Siakam than initially realized,” writes Stein.

    @cyro asseo if a pacers trade happens the frame work will be buddy hield and nemhard, and 2 picks. or buddy hield nemhard jarace wallace , and a pick, or buddy hield nemhard shepard and 2 picks. forget jalen smith and others, raptors dont need wings or forwards they got them. they need guards and shooters.

    raptors have too many wings and forwards and centers as is they got og, jalen mcdaniels, precious achuiwa, gary trent junior, otto porter jr, chris boucher, jakob poeltl, christian koloko, and likely moses brown even on summer league no room for nwora or jalen smith, nesmith, ob toppin, isaiah jackson

    basically they are buidling around scottie barnes and og now. so the raptors need shooters and guards. so the pacers trade framework is likely hield and nemhard and 2 picks if no other young guys involved of significance like a jarace walker.

    also roster spots is an issue as raptors got maybe 1 spot open, so getting too many players back they likely have to get rid of players. raptors dont have a pg really after fred left so its likely nemhard has to be in the deal. hield is a filler that they can move to a 3rd team, move at trade deadline for a pick, or just let expire to create cap space at end of next season.

    basically fred vanvleet leaving made it more possible that siakam moved as they will be headed more towards a rebuild as the team is worse without a starting pg. if they retained fred they would have rolled it back but with fred gone, the reality is the team is worse without a starting pg and no one on the roster that can really be a starting pg because nick nurse never played the young guys to develop them last 2 years. so fred leaving basically fawed siakam over. and nurse not developing young players fawked siakam over too as there is no pg that can take over the duties with fred gone.

    why do pacers do this move, they got a 3 year window before they gotta pay mathurin a rookie max. so with haliburton and siakam and mathurin they got a 3 year run before having to pay luxury tax. new cba makes it hard to have 3 max contracts and have a decent team to compete staying under the luxury tax with the penalties.

    haliburton siakam myles turner mathurin jarace walker/ obi topin is a playoff team and a dam good starting line up.
