It's a pointless tournament..make it interesting like winner is guaranteed at a 6th seed in playoffs
The soccer comparison really isn't apt. Most of the national soccer cup competions like US Open Cup here are for all divisions in a country. Champions League or Europa League are international across leagues. They aren't just adding more games with the same teams. Champions League type competion with the best teams from all over the world is what you really want.
I can see how the in-season tourney will boost TV ratings. Normally a NBA season consists of the Lakers, Warriors, Celtics, and a few up n coming stars showcased on National TV every week. The in-season tournament will broaden the field by showcasing meaningful games during the regular season.

I hate when these guys talk finances and make it seem like the owners are the only ones scared to lose money, as if making the league 60 games a season won't impact players money too. 60 games might sound good, but a lot of money will be lost for everyone. Also, I have no issue with the In-Season Tournament because this is how they doubted the play-in, and that's one of the best things they have added to the NBA. It has made the end of season worth watching. I understand ppl don't like change, but some times its for the best.
Just have the two best teams in the league play on xmas day for the Christmas Cup. Winner gets an extra first round pick.
The difference between this podcast and the CHGO one is that the people working there actually ENJOY watching the games. The first 3 minutes here are complaining, get some people that are obsessed with the Bulls.
