Ramona Shelburne: “I just talked to 2 GM’s this morning who said we might be looking at another Ben Simmons situation here. Dame has 4 years left on his deal. POR can take their time. Let’s see if he shows up for training camp. If they wanna wait till Feb. to trade him they can”

Reddit furiously jacking off to this headline

  2. thy_armageddon

    Ramona Shelburne has **0** sources.

  3. YourWorstNightmare9

All because Pat Riley is lowballing the Blazers and doesn’t want to give up both Jovic and Jacquez in a trade to the Blazers lmaooo.

  4. ILackPatience

Ramona ain’t got no sources. She usually rides on the coattails of Woj or Windhorst when they break news.

  5. ByronTheBlack

These small market teams are causing a hell of a lot of problems. There needs to be rules to give good players an option to leave them.

  6. Fhrtip123

He has a lot of respect for the Spurs organization too right Ramona

Owners should have lobbied for a Bitch-Made Exception that they can use to take the salary of a player sitting out off their cap sheet. Should be just like the Disabled Player exception. The league can determine if the player is sufficiently bitch-made and if so, the team gets that money back to use on another player without affecting their cap space.

  8. BadInternational8661

Cap. Dame ain’t no Ben Simmons.

  9. Active_Page_3886

Shelburne doesn’t know shit about fuck

It’s more like Durant vs the Simmons situation.

Morey had Simmons on the Trade Market for over 1yr before Simmons finally decided to say he was sitting out until he was Traded.

That was after Morey thought the Harden trade was done and reports are that Simmons was told to start looking for a new home in Houston.

Then after that he was thrown under the bus because he passed up a shot in a non close out game (Thybulle made 1of2 Free Throws off the pass) and the Sixers lost the series to the Hawks.

Morey then spent the entire Offseason and Season trying to Trade away Simmons while turning down Haliburton, Heild, Picks from Kings then OG, Lowry, Picks from Raptors then Collins(pre injury), Bogdan, Gallinari, and Picks for Simmons and Harris from Atlanta.

Blazers didn’t spend over a year trying to Trade away Lillard before he was finally insulted enough to demand a Trade or he’d sit out.

Untrained eye though…. Wouldn’t trust this report.

  12. DeeezNugetz

Another ben Simmons situation? What am I missing here

  13. TheRealDevDev

i love the idea of mainstream nba reporters just now coming to the realization that portland can wait to trade dame for as long as they want.

  14. _Zap_Rowsdower_

Keep his ass home if he doesn’t want to play. Let the young guys flourish.

  15. RVAIsTheGreatest

All encumbent on Miami bumping up their offer or finding a third team to add to the pot and can be compelled to help Miami land Dame. Until we get to that point, we’re at a standoff indefinitely.

I believe Micky and Pat are comfortable enough with their roster that they too feel no urgency to do a deal now. It’s Jimmy presence in all of this that has gone a bit under the radar. He wants Dame, and we’ll see how much pressure he applies Miami’s front office to land Dame.

  16. Salman1969

It will go one of two ways. The Heat will start out slow forcing them to give up more assets, or the Heat will come out on fire and stay “Pat” and force an even lower offer.

  17. Acrobatic-Reaction-7

If they wait to trade him his value is gonna fall and they are gonna get less for him during the season then they would now. Kinda dumb for them to just sit and wait like they have the upper hand when really it’s just gonna hurt them.

  18. unclehelpful

If I was a betting man I would bet they are completely speaking shit at the behest of the front office and hoping that being compared to Simmons is enough to jolt Dame into action.

  19. grrrown

What’s the plan Portland? All of your top talent plays the same position.

Are we to believe you will pay him $35 million to sit on the bench? Or will you risk an injury and owing the full $200 million?

Is another team supposed to give away their assets and hope that he changes his mind about Miami? Why would they and why would he?

Dame signed an extension with the understanding that Portland would build a team around him. Clearly, they did not and do not actually intend to do that.

Now Portland wants to hold the rest of his prime hostage when their lies are only reason he is still there.

  20. L_Moo_S

Nah if it goes Ben Simmons again I’m going pro owner and demanding a lock out

    This shit has got insane

Don’t sign a four year then not play

  21. CloudCrashSounds

Good thing the new CBA addressed players refusing to play while under contract, right?

  22. jstew262

As a Packer fan, I’m feeling a strong sense of deja vu

  23. PalletTownsDealer

If he doesn’t show up can the boxer fine him like they did Ben Simmons

  24. nugcityharambe

Portland has all the leverage here. They have a solid young core and are entering a multi year rebuild. If they don’t like the Miami package then they’re better off just waiting. Lillard is really the only loser here.

  25. darthllama

If the Blazers can stomach the potential headache, this is probably the right way to go. As time goes by other teams might be willing to take a risk or Dame might expand his list of acceptable teams.

  26. PalletTownsDealer

Damian Lillard on ~~Jordan Poole~~ Ramona:

“I am at the (trade) line and (s)he is back there just talking. So I turned back and I’m like ‘shut the f*** up’ and (s)he said ‘make me.’ So my natural instinct is like I train in combat, I am from Oakland.

  27. em_washington

It’s actually a preferred outcome for Portland if Dame willingly sits out. Blazers get to tank and focus on development while not having to pay Lillard his huge salary. And meanwhile, his value doesn’t really diminish that quickly. The more I think about it, the more likely it is that he isn’t moved until close to the trade deadline. I actually think if he shows up to camp and to games it’s more likely he gets traded sooner as Portland will be motivated to move him out of the rotation and his salary off the books.

  28. Jestfulbadger888

It’s comical seeing all these heat fans thinking they have all the leverage

  29. KobeFadeaway248

Building Integrity Through Contractual Harmony (Bitch Clause).

  30. infographic11222

I’m sure that trading a 34 year old Dame gets you better assets than 33 year old dame. Nice locker room vibe too

  31. migzors

At this point, if I were the GM, I’d just keep Dame. If he doesn’t show up to play, so be it. He has a right to demand a trade, and the Trailblazers have the right not to trade him.

He spouted about loyalty and doing the right thing, and yet he demands to be traded to Miami. That’s fine. He can be loyal and on the bench. Dame will be 4 years older when his contract expires and will be less likely to join a team that is in immediate contention for a championship.

  32. yetagainitry

He shouldn’t hold out. Show up for training camp. If he holds out, fans will start to split on who they back. Go to camp, be a pro, all the hate will pile on the blazers until they are forced to take whatever Miami offers or lose all credibility with player win the league

  33. HeatCreator

Dame to the Heat has to make them the favorites right?
