Damian Lillard just liked a tweet asking Phil Knight to buy the Trail Blazers

Dame liked a tweet asking that Phil Knight buy the Trail Blazers for the reason that the current owner, Jody Allen, is afraid to go into the luxury tax. He clearly still wants the Blazers to pony up and build him a competitive roster even after everything that has happened, but the relationship between Dame, the front office, and ownership has clearly soured. Dame’s agent alluded to promises that were not kept. It’s very unlikely the ownership changes before Dame is gone, but this is the first instance of Dame calling the ownership out, even in an indirect way. Shit I canā€™t blame Dame for wanting Jody gone. She donā€™t give a fuck about putting out a contender lol

Save us Uncle Phil! Get an Oregonian in charge of the Oregon team.

  3. Fuck what Dame thinks the Blazers should do. He’s crippling them by requesting a trade to a single team. “Hey Phil fix this mess that I’m about to make”.

Not quite Ballmer money but way above the usual assets of an NBA owner. Would be very exciting for the league to get somebody like that cooking.

Iā€™m in the anyone but Phil camp, who else is even interested in being an owner?

Lame time seething that he canā€™t get his way

jody is the worst owner in the nba

Phil Knight is a Republican and a racist. no wonder he publicly lashed out at Kyrie while sstaying quiet about Ja being pro-gun

I get both sides. Owners probably blamed not having assets to land a big trade, but they lucked on the third pick and sat on it.

Blazers fell in love with Scoot and they don’t want to give up their future. It’s a logical decision, but they definitely screwed Lillard.

Definite bad blood here. I think Lillard made it worse by not being transparent on exactly what was promised.

I only want Dame to get traded so we can end this daily Dame updates. I think his strategy is to irritate everyone to get what he wantsā€¦ I used to do it when I was 12

ngl itā€™s pretty pathetic when people are digging through celebrityā€™s likes.

I thought the terms of Paul Allen’s trust was that the teams (Seahawks and Blazers) have to be sold at some point?

I wish for the Trailblazer fans off this wild ride. Hopefully she sells the team soon, whatever they get for Dame become legit guys for their future and for them to get a real coaching staff.

I just liked a tweet where Braun showed love to Brown. And for all anyone knows, Iā€™m one of KDs many burners, so, yeah we should make that a thread on r/nba.

    smh

jfc this fuckin guy is still a Trailblazer and passive-aggressive twittering about his team? Still? Dude can just straight up fuck off at this point with his career and ā€œlegacyā€.

Let me buy it Dame I promise you

  18. gimpisgawd

He put in an offer already, Jody said no.

This is the nice to get the fair weather fans back on his side. Think everyone in Portland can get behind is time for the Paul Alan estate to sell the team.

  20. 80sBadGuy

Dame clutching at relevance like he has any leverage.

  21. bobarobot

A new owner would change his mind. I heard Jody is a bit of a creep. She doesnā€™t have enough cash flow to go into the tax, and neither will Phil. You need tech / real estate / banking type of money to buy a pro sports team. No love for Bezos??

  22. Not Dame thinking he would actually win, especially in this stacked Western conference

This time, on Days of Our Blazers…

I honestly think Lillard is not good enough, he is too small, suspect defense, forced shot selection, etc.. to be a center piece like Curry, Giannis, Jokic and so on, Lillard was never at this level (even less so nowadays, with old age being a factor). So why the Blazers should go over the salary cap to “build” a team around Lillard if he is not good enough? I understand Lillard has his fans, his playstyle is flashy, he even raps, etc.. so the charisma is a thing, but actual ability is something else entirely. It’s not like it’s impossible to win with Lillard (like the WestBrook disease), if he plays a smaller role, being the second best player, etc.. I think he can win in this scenario. But to be the best player, go to guy… nope, not good enough
