The Ringer had him at 23, which is ridiculous imo. Like it has to be recency bias right? Ive seen Murray ranked over him, which I understand to an extent, but James Harden and Bam over Trae Young in 2023? What the actual fuck? Imo at bare minimum he is the 20th best player in the league. The discussion is supposed to be is he top 15 to 10. Also I feel the defensive liability thing is being way overblown. (The image below is not a complete representation of what I’m talking abt, but you get the point)

Yes Trae is severely underrated at this point, but wait till we get Siakam, this would only get worse from here. When expectation rises, Trae’s production naturally dips (with reduced usage + questionable offensive fit/spacing) and we are still mid (hovering around that play-in range + get bounced in the 1st round/play-in).
Idk I view 11-20 as interchangeable. They’re all on the same relative level.
SGA legit way too low. Should be hovering around 10.

The rest is whatever but I have zero clue why people started putting Shai above Trae. It has become a widely shared opinion and Shai has done literally nothing in his career besides just this past season post great stats on a losing team. Trae has at least carried his team to the playoffs 3 seasons in a row and carried his team to an ECF birth. Trae has more accomplishments in every aspect.
Hoop Venue had Zion in their top 15, Trae’s placement isn’t too crazy compared to that.
It was pretty annoying how much more of Trae’s section of the video showed misses, though.
No. He is around 15-25. All of which are interchangeable since they’re relatively equal players. Until he can play defense he isn’t a top 15 player.
He is. The talking heads hate for whatever reason. You don’t lead the league in assists (back-to-back) and points for no reason. He’s top 15.
