He’s not wrong. Heat Culture was a thing way before the Big 3 that’s why they grouped up here
BlackEygptian
We get it Tim. You didn’t win tho so it doesn’t illuminate as much.

Indeed correct
AyyDelta
Culture started the summer of 95 and they were traded to Miami that season so yeah, kind of true.
Damn_DirtyApe
Fact check: True
ComprehensiveFront22
Not sure who would argue the Heatles years brought the culture. I mean Lebron came to the culture. Definitely the 90s/Riley taking the helm.

i don’t think an actual heat fan would sit here and say the BIG 3 started “heat culture” we’ve BEEN a tough, gritty, hard-nosed basketball team well into the 90s, the 90s Miami Heat gave birth to the style of team we have today easily
CrispyCubes
One hundred percent correct. Pat, Tim, and Zo are why I’m here. Add in PJ and EJ, and you’ve got the start of a culture that has thrived over the last 20+ years. IMO, the only organization with a similar (and sometimes better, if I’m being honest) culture is San Antonio. Unsurprisingly, they’re my second favorite team
DrLuv86
Shouldn’t even be disputed
PlayBey0nd87
He spittin’ facts. Riley spearheaded and Hardway/Mourning put it on display.

True words have been spoken.

Who said it started with Lebron, Wade and Bosh??? It was certainly around before them, which is what attracted Lebron to MIA (until he realized Pat ran things and not himself). Pat Riley brought the mentality from his days coaching the Knicks, so Tim is correct.
bomemeianrhapsody
Heat culture started in the 90s, but the big 3 is when it become prominent. Not many organizations can get two-way effort and synergy out of stars that big.

I assumed Heat culture started with Riley when he came in the 90’s, i mean Zo throwing dem hands against the knicks is pure take take no bs attitude. Now im wondering who’s saying that the heatles started heat culture? I mean lebron came from Cleveland basically as an apprentice to know how to win

LeBron came here to learn from the already established culture

Zo is literally the epitome of Heat Culture
Pistachio269
I thought the implication was that Pat Riley was the driving force behind “Heat Culture,” even before it was called that.
Which would mean it goes as far back as 80s Lakers, then 90s knicks, then 90s heat in perpetuity until modern day

Well of course. Heat Culture was essentially Riley telling the team and future iterations, “Be like Zo”. As someone else on the sub said, there’s a reason why the Heat’s weight room is called Zo’s Corner
FkMarthawaters
This is undisputed by any who knows heat history.
YaBoyyJohn
Definitely started with them and Riles fasho
ZekeAndDestroy_
Of course he is right.
ManyFaceGod2001
I think that’s holds, I really believe that. Hardaway, and Zo, with Riley are what made the Heat into a great team, they were always contenders with the 3 of them, Riley sticking around after the others left and retired is what kept that culture
sum_dude44
it didn’t start being called “Heat culture” until Wade left. But it’s always been there since Riley. During the Heatles, they were called soft and “[Hollywood](https://youtu.be/Gbdk3hLdABk)” (mostly Lebron)
But Riley is the one who brought the tough culture, & Spo is a Riley/VanGundy disciple. I remember Shaq hated the conditioning
HonkedOffJohn
Most Heat fans are young guys in their 20s and 30s. We know about the old timers but it’s hard to argue that 2003 when Wade was drafted was the start of a new era in Heat basketball that is the reason so many fans fell in love with Heat culture.

Heat Culture started when Riley arrived, but I think the term was definitely popularized around the Big 3 era because it became a hashtag and essentially a buzzword for the media at that point.
Was worried people would be disrespecting Zo in the comments, man is 100% right
GRpanda123
It started with Riley and nurtured with Mourning, Hardaway but a lot if the backbone were guys like PJ Brown and Keith Askins. All that was passed down to guys like Wade and Hasslem. It’s weird that someone would say Heat culture started with Lebron and Bosh got here.

Those Knicks/Heat games were legendary
Agree. The road warriors were elite.
Probably true but it’s a little classless to say.
