  1. @locked on hawks the raptors and hawks have been talking for a while. it means likely a framework is set down and the two groups are not that far apart after talking for over a month. also siakam is worth as a rental still an unprotected pick or two and a young player and filler. that said if it was a deandre hunter and capella center piece with hawks having no picks, i think they would not have been talking for months as the two parties are too far apart. hunter doesnt fit on raptors as their other wings are better defender than hunter and younger and need playing time. capella doesnt fit on raptors as they jakob poeltl who is a better center and defender. so based on siakam being worth at least 1-2 unprotected picks and a young player as a rental, the realistic assumption is that the hawks not having the picks is gonna have to offer 1-2 young players. as they have been talking for a few months i think the framework is set or they wouldnt have been talking for so long.

the deal would have to center around okongwu and one of griffin or bufkin and the 2024 kings pick. and being real that kings pick in the 20-30 range is not a feature but a throw in. thats the framework of the deal i see for the two teams to have been talking for so long or they would have been too far apart to even consider a siakam deal. last minute hagling may be around sadiq bey or other filler or even the hawks 2030 pick.

you gotta realize also if they extend siakam, the hawks likely dont have enough to trade for siakam.

in terms of siakam's group putting out there he wont sign with a team if he is traded. i think its smoke. i think the more siakams group keeps putting it out there in public he wont sign with a team if he is traded, the more likely siakam is gonna be trade or a deal is close, because siakams group wouldnt be doing that otherwise.

will siakam sign with hawks, i think he will. he would be stupid to risk his max money risking injury or a bad season. its like if there was hurricane insurance and hurricane season was coming, would you risk not getting that insurance if you could afford it? too much risk of siakam losing his max even if he doesnt extend.

but if there is a hawks trade for siakam, okongwu is the center piece or the two parties would be too far apart to do a deal for siakam even as a rental. the raptors are not gonna take capella over okongwu with dallas offering hardaway jr and two 2nd round picks for capella as their only offer.

  2. do the magic have enough to trade for siakam, yes but their offer likely be filler injury prone jonathan isaac coming off from 2 years of knee surgery. gary harris filler and a suggs. its not a great package for siakam so unless they included another young player like a franz wagner or a wendel carter jr, i dont see a deal unless they included 3 unprotected picks ans the players coming back are not grea if its isaac harris and suggs. ya suggs was a high pick but looks like a bust at this point. there is no feature good young player in that magic trade offer unless a franz wagner or wendel carter jr is in there or it would have to be like a memphis trade where they offer 3-4 picks because the player package isnt good.

  3. I think people need to check their expectations at the door. Hawks were fortunate that Jalen and AJ were able to crack the lineup in years 1 & 2. That's typically not how it works for guys drafted outside the lottery. Hawks were especially lucky with AJ because he already had an NBA body at 19.. Bufkin will prob need more time to bulk up.
