the raptors are playing chess. there are teams putting a pause on their off season to try and pry pascal from us. when they dont get him they will be forced to pivot to a mediocre move. pascal extension can be done before next summer. hawks fans need to relax because their only realistic trade piece just got extended and isnt a trade piece anymore. they arent prying pascal from us with a role player and no team is trying to offer any significant deals since he is an expiring contract.
Canadians greatest thrill is being mentioned by americans. The only thing more central to Canadian identity is the sweet sweet thrill we get from trying to deny it. It's part of our our national Napoleon Complex.

the raptors are the bad guy because we wont give another team our best player for pebbles lmao. the raptors have all the leverage in terms of retaining pascal. pascal wants to be with us and wont extend to whoever would trade for him. the raptors lose nothing by holding onto a multiple all nba player. why should we make another team a contender? and not just another team, a team in the east that we play regularly. thats a fucking stupid move. you dont trade pascal and a player of his talent to your east rival. not if we plan on being competitive. a competitive trade would be finding a real suitor in the west and making them our trade partner. the raptors cant say they want to win and then trade a top player of the game to a team theyre directly competing against. what, so we can deal with pascal beating us up? nah. keep pascal and extend him when the time is right. he averaged numbers that very few in the nba average. the guys who average those numbers? like luka? like lebron? and we wanna just dump off pascal and try to find another guy that can do that? get real. scottie hasnt shown he can do that and that entire argument is based off scottie one day reaching that level. when scottie does reach those kinds of heights then we can consider this pascal deal again in a few years. right now though the raptors would be smart to retain and just look to extend pascal.
