Why does it feel like the Hawks are the desperate team in this. Siakim is not moving the NBA title contender needle. Move on from this nonsense and stop insulting some of us in this fanbase.
What do you think of three team trade as reported but we also get Richaun Holmes instead of 2nd round pick is that feasible to replace Capela as backup
@brad rowland i believe wes morton is way off base. for one, if toronto is trading siakam, they are rebuilding, so i dont think capella is in the deal. i understand deandre hunter has to be in there for filler but he likely be moved to a 3rd team as the wings raptors have are better. since the raptors are rebuilding they will be looking for young players and picks. hawks dont have picks so its gonna be at least 2 young players. they have been talking for a few months so they have to have a basic framework they agreed upon or they would be too far apart and not talking for this long. hunter is filler. and i believe at least 2 young players and the kings pick is coming to raptors.
for this reason i believe the deal is centered on okongwu and one of griffin or bufkin and the kings pick with hunter as filler. i dont see raptors rebuilding logically and just taking deandre hunter and capella as hawks dont have picks. and that kings pick is gonna be 20-30 so its not a good pick. so to compensate is has to be 2 young players. not sure if patty mills can be moved but if not then the other filler is sadiq bey.
dallas hoping to get capella, you saw the offer they were giving when hawks were in talks, they were offering hardaway jr and two 2nd round picks. i dont think raptors take capella for that offer.
again keep in mind raptors trading siakam means they are rebuilding. so a siakam trade will have to follow that guideline or the two parties are too far apart to get a deal done. and since they have been talking for 2 months, i think they have agreed on a basic framework. it might be waiting on bufkin to become available to trade on august 2, and the raptors finding a 3rd team to move deandre hunter to. but this talk of capella isnt in the equation since raptors are rebuilding. it just complicates the deal with roster spots and bad contracts coming back like a salary dump like hardaway jr that the raptors wont want. i just dont see capella coming unless dallas offering josh green, lively and olivier max prosper. part of the reason why siakam is being moved is for salary cap reasons as well as mlse wont pay the luxury tax, so getting back bad contract filler from dallas isnt an option with free agents they gotta resign next year.
raptors have too many wings is why deandre hunter will be moved. he is not better than og or barnes so he wont be starting. you put him on the bench, i dont think he is better defensively than chris boucher or jalen mcdaniel, and they have otto porter who shoots the 3 better as well and is a good defensive player.
i dont see siakam traded to hawks if the offer is deandre hunter and capella and kings 2024 pick. raptors are rebuilding and wont agree to that package. that deal means the teams are too far apart and they been talking for 2 months so a basic framework is agreed upon for them to be talking this long. a deandre hunter capella offer would have to have 3 unprotected picks as its basically a salary dump from what the raptors would view it as. and the hawks dont have the picks. if the picks are not there you are throwing in griffin, bufkin and jalen johnson and the 2024 pick basically as the 2 guys are basically filler that match siakam salary.
if a deal is dont its not gonna be a hunter capella kings 2024 pick package. doesnt make sense to trade siakam for that if raptors are rebuilding by trading siakam.
keep in mind siakam as a rental is still worth an unprotected pick or two, a good young player and filler. hawks dont have the picks so its gonna be at least 2 young players and the kings 2024 pick which will be in the 20-30 range.
