Can Jordan Walsh contribute right away? Plus, Grant Williams unprofessional at the end?

Summer league is over, and the one guy most people want to talk about is Jordan Walsh. His 3-point shooting was a surprise in Las Vegas, but will it be enough to earn him some playing time with the Boston Celtics this season? John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal and Tom Westerholm discuss Walsh’s potential, JD Davison’s chances, and then get into Grant Williams admitting he was unprofessional at the end of his time in Boston.

  1. The league slept on J.W. He's not only the 39th best player in the draft. I think he's top five.

  2. I think Walsh is ready for real NBA minutes right now. Guys that can defend as rookies get their time earlier than guys like Sam that have more offensive skills. All he's gotta do is knock down the three at a 35-36% rate and make smart plays on the offensive end, be it screens or cuts. I don't see why it's so imperative that Walsh be a knockdown shooter before he can play when we were okay with Smart being streaky on offense as well. He might not be Smart defensively, but I do think he'll be a very good defender right away.

  3. Love Walsh but Celts have a long history of not playing rooks a ton. I’d love to see, but he’ll spend more time in Maine than anywhere else I bet. Will be good for him anyway-he’ll get much more experience and PT there. Thanks for the pod guys.☘️🔒
