Maybe scoot breaks the cycle.
To put things in perspective, now list all the mediocre players who requested a trade.
I did not know this. Thank you for the informing me.
That is a sad yet fun fact
Depression getting deeper
Dame has been my favorite player I have ever watched for any sport. I love the guy, and I know he pledged to be a Blazer lifer, and I believe he meant it, and it really hurts to see him ask out. However, there are a very few number of star players to play a whole career with a single team. Those that have usually won a championship or at least went to the finals and conf. Finals several times (Stockton, Reggie Miller as examples). If we were able to be more competitive then he wouldβve stayed. But the reality of the situation is that we are a team with good young assets and itβs time to rebuild. Dame knows it, and he should go spend his last good years trying to compete for a chip. As much as it hurts to have all of our superstar players ask for trades, it seems to me like all of Walton, Drexler and Dame (left for their own reasons) all loved the city and fans of Portland. My real hope for dame is that unlike the other two, after he retires he will live in Portland and represent the blazers super hard in the future. I believe that scoot and or sharpe are the next stars here and we can have a another shot at a championship, and maybe a lifer if weβre lucky. Iβm drunk and ranting, but just my 2 cents
Lamarcus Aldridge never requested a trade π
I think all 3 had valid reasons in asking out. Medical staff forced Walton to play with a broke foot, Bob whitsit wanted to go young and fired Clydeβs guy Rick Adelman and Cronin admitted he failed Dame. If Paul Allen didnβt pass Iβm sure he would of had no problem staying in the luxury tax to keep Dame especially after making the western finals in 19
The reality is that building a contender in a small market is hard as hell, and great players want to win.
Michael Jordan almost left the Bulls for the Knicks in ’96
Kobe requested a trade from the Lakers in ’07
LeBron made The Decision
Shaq requested a trade from the Lakers in ’04
this shit just happens, it’s not Portland-specific
