Fournier on Knicks and Thibodeau: ‘I have nothing to say’

“I’m going to be traded, it’s not possible otherwise. Or I’d be stuck, and so would they. They have several players with big contracts coming in. Unless they want to pay a crazy luxury tax… If I stayed, it would be a disaster basketball-wise for my career,” Fournier was blunt. “I can manage a year without playing. Two… that would be terrible.”

Dang seems like he had a lot to say actually

I feel bad for the dude but when we give you a full season and then another 2 months to show a defensive coach some level of competent perimeter D and we get nothing, what is the coach supposed to do? Thibs thought he was gonna get fired. He makes an adjustment, we start winning. Why re-break what you just fixed? It does suck that the communication stopped and Thibs basically threw him away. That’s not a good look. But in the end, Thibs made the right decision for the thing that matters most: winning. Again, its a business and I’m sure it isn’t personal.

    damn he gone

he was ballin out when he first came and was a great fit for this team but he couldnt keep up, also that contract looks like ass now

also it shouldnt be a concern i guess but first obi, and now evan publicly talking shit about thibs while they are/were still knicks players is kinda weird

“You want to spit on everyone. You have hatred. Derrick Rose and I looked at each other and said to each other: ‘What the hell are we doing here?’ During the five-on-five practice, we were on the side like some prospects. Uncool times. And when I realized that wouldn’t change, I took things more slowly,” he said. “I focused on myself and didn’t let the rest get to me anymore. I did three cardio sessions, two weight training sessions per week, a lot of travel work, [analyzing] game situations with an assistant coach Daniel Brady.”

maybe if you figured out how to at least guard a 35 year old recently off injury joe ingles youd find some playing time

With the DD signing we’re also hard capped, so we can’t even use Fournier to take on bad money for assets. His contract is just so valuable to make any big trade work I really doubt the team’s just gonna dump him, which sucks for him personally

Honestly I thought he was pretty good when he came in during the second half of the year (was poor in the first two months). Oh well.

I wish him the best bcuz he’s a very good dude but it’s just business. Some ppl have to get pushed out in order to make space for others. It’s the same with Obi- you get to a point where it’s just best to move on. They want playing time and they’re not going to get it here so it’s better to send them elsewhere where they will get playing time
