“•It’s up to the Blazers & Heat to engage in negotiations at this point •Portland has told Miami: Make your best offer •I’m told the sides have spoken but not about anything significant & that there is no real traction on any deal yet” @ShamsCharania

My only paranoid concern at this point is Lillard getting annoyed with how long this takes and opening up more teams to his wish list or getting annoyed with how long we’re taking.

I know people don’t want to hear this but we should just offer JJJ, Jokic and picks and send Herro elsewhere. The rooks don’t fit the timeline and it’s not like we are sending them to a future contender lol (it’s the blazers, they’ll become FA at some point and we will sign them 😂)

that’s what the blazers are hoping for with all of this. From what we understand Miami is really lowballing it right now tho.

I don’t think Dame would be upset the Heat are trying to hold on to as many pieces as they can. He wants to win a championship

There’s definitely a lot of moving pieces here, and I think both teams are doing what they gotta do. I think until another team sends an offer we’ll likely stick with this stalemate, but eventually something’s gotta give, we just gotta be patient.

Future picks don’t matter for us, but we need to hold on to as many current contributors as we can. We have a 2 year window. Getting Dame but sending out caleb, lowry/duncan, herro, jjj and jovic does not make us better. The FO goal is to win a championship, not just get Dame.

I’ve learned the art of not caring about this till it happens and living my life without looking up Dame news. Instant gratification has taken a hold of so many sports fans, it’s still very likely to happen, bullshiting is an unfortunate part of superstar trades and your investment in it won’t speed up the process.

the last thing anyone should be worried about is dame expanding his list. he was stubborn for 11 years on one team and has been thinking about this decision for years. he’s not going back on his word on jimmy and bam when miami is where his best chance to contend is and likely where he wants to have his family. this is all about the FO on both sides, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see dame make this messy.

Lmao make your best offer with no other offer on the table

Look at the five biggest recent trades. KD to the Suns, Mitchell to the Cavs, Gobert to the Wolves, Harden to the Nets, PG13 to the Clippers.

The Nets, Clippers, and Wolves all lost the their trades and the way it’s looking the Suns and Cavs are gonna be losers also. Riley is smartly not offering everything for a 33 year old point guard who is depreciating rapidly in value every year.

Relax. Dame to Miami is a lock and it’ll be a lot less than people think. We have all the leverage here. Portland essentially has to trade him here for scraps, they have no choice.

I wonder if Pat had an expiration date on this. Call the Blazer bluff and let them try to trade Dame to another team or bring Dame into training camp

here’s a thought – what if Cronin flat out doesn’t even wanna trade Dame anywhere? what if he hopes to keep Dame in Portland in hopes that he’ll change his mind or fold and stay in Portland.

I think it’s important to point out the non basketball related stuff, especially if you’re ownership and, let’s be real here, most GMs are mouthpieces for ownership – Dame leaving portland means the blazers losing out on jersey sales, merch sales, tickets sales, national and international attention and so on. In other words, they lose Dame, they risk fading into irrelevancy (at least for a few years), and in an economy like this, that’s the last thing ownership would want.

To put it bluntly, if a better offer were to exist, it would have already come – or, if it did come, Portland possibly refused them. I don’t think this is about basketball, pettiness or anything of that sorts – losing Dame means the Blazers lose their cash show in a not so ideal economic situation.

  14. Alright at this point wtf are we doing? Just go get the deal done and stop being stingy. This is the definition of looking a gift horse in the mouth.

We are supposed to get a top 10 player who demanded coming here and instead we’re trying to pinch pennies. The odds of Jovic or JJJ even ending up solid is slim so just get the deal done.

**who thinks Dame has huge value right now?** if portland wanted to maximize his value, they should’ve traded him before his last contract. they took a risk paying an aging start all that cash and did nothing to help him contend. he essentially has 2 more years left to be the best player on a championship team and thats still a gamble. Portland fucked this up and they want the HEAT to pay for their mistake… bizarre…
