I remember making a comment last year on how Carlisle will not get COTY last year, and he won’t this year either.
Without digging it up; A team has to overachieve with a not top coach. Carlisle coached-teams are expected to perform above their minimum expectations. Carlisle is just a great coach that keeps a competitive roster ready regardless who’s starting. This team showed some cards going on a run last year before Hali got injured. We have potential, but we still need development.
It’s “not surprising Pacers are/aren’t in the 3-7 range in the East.” We’re not expected to compete, but no one will be surprised if we are competing.
It’s a regular season reward. We’d have to be top 1/2 in the East for him to be considered. It just won’t happen this year regardless of our success/failures. Don’t throw your money away.
