FYI r/nba won’t let me post this when I include all the source links (maybe because some websites aren’t approved by the sub?) but you can Google the facts 🙂

    Here’s another random fact:

In order to fully recover from his ankle sprain in the 2000 NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant took up tap dancing over the summer.

Kobe talks about this in his book, The Mamba Mentality. Here’s an excerpt from pg.46 of the book:

“After that injury, I missed Game 3 [of the 2000 NBA Finals] but managed, thanks to stimulation therapy, to play the rest of the series. This treatment involves wires that deliver low-level electrical current directly through your skin. It actually helps bring the pain down. But the ankle was so bad that, to be honest, I couldn’t hoop much that summer. What I did do, though, was take up tap dancing. That’s right: tap dancing. That was my worst sprain, but it certainly wasn’t my first. I realized at that point I needed to be proactive about strengthening my ankles.

After researching the matter, it became apparent that tap dancing was going to be the best way to build up my ankle strength while simultaneously improving my foot speed and rhythm. So I hired an instructor and started going to the studio. I worked on it all that summer and benefited for the rest of my career.”

    Addendum:

Kobe sprained his ankle when Jalen Rose intentionally slid his foot under Kobe after he took a jumpshot. Here’s a video to that:

Steven Adams refuses to play for his national team because they didnt bought him shoes when he was 16

  6. >Celtics and Knicks are the only teams to have never moved.

The Nuggets have never moved. It’s possible I’m blanking on something, but they’ve always been in Denver. They were called the Rockets for a bit tho.

I don’t think the Magic, Heat, Blazers, T-Wolves or Mavericks have either.

  7. TheIgnoredWriter

  13. DeathBySuplex

Mark Eaton leads the Utah Jazz in Triple Doubles, registering more than Karl Malone, John Stockton, Deron Williams combined.

He would have had more, but didn’t score enough points to get double digits along with rebounds and blocks.

  14. MSKOnlyScans

That Pao Gasol fact is wild. Maybe it’s different in Spain, but medical school and residency in the USA are absolutely brutal. Takes a very special person to do that if they have millions already.

NBA bodyfat % is so jank, you need to add like 10% to any figure they quote minimum.

  18. SeanSungASong

Manute Bol’s dad was taller than he was

  19. Ineedajobbrah

I find it hard to believe the 60-65% of players going broke within the first 5 years of retirement. The NBA has. Pretty good retirement plan, I know of 1 player(long story) who makes ~$40k a month in retirement

  20. MeatBald

Walt Bellamy played 88 games in the 68-69 season.

  21. Kdog122025

Speaking of Steven Adams, his big sister is a 4 time Olympic Gold medalist.

Michael Kidd Gilchrist watches The Lion King once a week because it reminds him of his late father who passed away when he was 3 and whom he used to watch it everyday with

Kyrie Irving almost lost his dad in 9/11. His dad had a job at the World Trade Center and was on his way to work that day when he had a bad feeling about it and decided to go back home instead.

After his childhood best friend died when they were 16 Russell Westbrook would go to his best friend’s grandmother’s house everyday to do the chores his friend used to do.

Rapper Nelly used to walk Bradley Beal to school when he was growing up.

Dwyane Wade’s big sister helped him escape their drug addict mother by taking him one day and telling him they were going to the movies and then instead taking him to their dad’s house where he started to live from then on.

Kevin Durant’s favorite team growing up was the Toronto Raptors because he was a fan of Vince Carter. I know it’s not that special but it’s not everyday you hear about a celebrity fan of the Raptors that isn’t Drake.

Apart from being cousins, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter have the same middle name: Lamar.

  30. TheFinalEvent9797

Bubba Wells holds the record for quickest time to foul out at 2 minutes 43 seconds.
