From the video that shows up at the top of this article:
Kendrick Perkins: “Going into their second year with the core group of guys they have: Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley – those four alone, they should grow from last season. I believe that they will get better. They improved the depth on their bench. I believe this kid Emoni Bates will come in and actually play some minutes off the bench. The Cleveland Cavaliers goal should be at least reaching the Conference Finals. They have too much talent. They have an MVP caliber player in Donovan Mitchell who can put up 30 on any given night. They have zero excuses not to reach the conference finals this season.”
“How realistic is that Zach?”
Zach: “A couple of excuses for them to not reach the conference finals are the Bucks and the Celtics, and we’ll see what happens with the Sixers and maybe the Heat with Damian Lillard. Conference Finals are not a given. The playoffs were a complete disaster for the Cavs – their guards didn’t make shots, their young big men were completely overwhelmed by the moment and outhustled by the Knicks, and I also thought they were outcoached – and I think they will all grow from that. They added shooting all over the place with Max Strus and Georges Niang, that should loosen the floor for the guards and the big guys. I think their defense is completely legit. They’ll learn from the playoffs. Although I wouldn’t say conference finals or bust, I do think a top 3 seed, number 2 or probably 3 might be a little more up for grabs in the East. I think Cleveland should continue to win more games in the regular season, and be better in the playoffs. Winning a round would be nice, winning two – I don’t think it’s fair to say it would be a disappointment if they don’t do that.”

Good enough? Yes, but it’s far from an expectation. There are other good teams in the East that are more proven and deeper than the Cavs.
That said if things go right this year or if we just get some luck, we could easily be in the ECF.

Let’s win a series first before we start talking any sort of finals

No, not yet. Allen’s gonna have to be traded sooner rather than later to fully maximize our roster and Mobley. It will be easier to find a replacement level center for 20 to 24 minutes than an above average wing. I’m hoping we trade Allen for Grant (or a similar tier of player) at the deadline this year. DG, Mitchell, Grant, Mobley, center we get through trade or buyout. Then, we go small with DG, Mitchell, Strus/LeVert, Grant and Mobley in the playoffs/crunch time. I like our chances to get to the second round then, but Mobley will only be in his third year and years from his prime so I wouldn’t expect to go further than that.

Of course they are going to be… there’s multiple teams that are talented enough to do so. The Heat were barely a playoff team and nobody expected what happened with their run.
Things don’t always go as planned. I have faith we’re going to make some noise.
