Locked on Nets is joined by Caleb of BrooklynNetCast to discuss the moves the Nets have made this off-season and what to expect from the team this year.

They talk about the best moves by Sean Marks and what they could mean for some new rotations. Plus they talk about the potential impact Ben Simmons could have this season and what fans should expect out of his performance.

They also get into the likelihood of whether the Nets are still a team to facilitate a transaction and trade between the Portland Trailblazers and Miami Heat were Damian Lillard to be on the move. All of this and more.

  1. Hello everyone. Looking at the future of the Brooklyn Nets, given they have a multitude of important first round draft picks and not an actual first round draft pick til 2027 the path to a full rebuild is not possible and a path to contention in the near future with the new core looks very good…..

Going into this season seeing Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton all continue to improve their skills on the court while adding some new nuances to their games could be a very advantageous to their progress. Seeing how this new coaching staff under coach Vaughn can continue to represent the culture while putting an emphasis on defense and team style basketball will be very important.

Lastly Ben Simmons is entering his prime 27 age year in the NBA and seeing him healthy playing strong defense and making a huge impact as a playmaker would be very great signs of him bouncing back….

Overall this is a season of rejuvenation and setting a real foundation towards building an NBA championship culture….

  2. I don't like the idea of playing Ben at Center. I think it's got to be pointguard or nothing. But I'm wondering when Ben will be fit enough to play? Will it be the first round or will he still need a couple of weeks or maybe even another month before he is full recuperated? Whatever it is, he needs to be fully fit and when he is, then lookout.

  3. Healthy Ben10 and JV upping his coaching game can spell an 7 or 8th seed for this group.

We bringing back 90s bball back. All defense , no offense.

  4. The Nets have added 7 new players, after the season ended. (three rookies and 3 journeymen) It remain to be seen whether any of the moves, made by Marks, will have a positive effect. No one know, probably not even him, whether we've finish trading before preseason. One thing is for certain and that if he continuously turn the roster over every season, cohesion will be just a pipe dream.

  5. Really good show Doug with some insightful and interesting perspective from Caleb! One thing I can’t seem to get strongly behind is picking up Tyler Herro especially if it’s a swap for Spencer. My feeling may not be justified by the numbers, but that’s just how I feel.

  6. If the present and future trades, made by Sean Marks, has the same effect as past trades, then Nets fans are going to be disappointed. Do you remember in 2017, Brook Lopez, the cornerstone of our franchise, was traded with the rights to Kyle Kuzma and the 27th draft pick, to the Lakers for Timofey Mozgov and D'Angelo Russell? Do you remember how Marks offered Allen Crabbe, Tyler Johnson, and Otto Porter bloated contracts? We dodged some bullets because their teams matched the Nets offer. It's inexcusable why Marks traded for Crabbe's bloated contract even after the Trailblazers realized he was a bust. Do you remember the acquisitions of Greivis Vasquez, Jeremy Lin, Luis Scola, Jahlil Okafor, and Anthony Bennett? All of these players were on the roster during Marks's reign and just thinking that all of this happened before the "big three" experiment came about and imploded. The fans that have faith in Marks decisions, good luck with that.

  7. nice argument caleb about simmons. him at 12/8/8/1.2 makes nets a 50 win team, especially if lonnie and smith jnr play well
