Wouldn’t it have been easier for Portland to get one or two players to win with the team they have? Now they are trying to trade for picks to rebuild?
Patience he says that's the whole reason why Portland are in this situation and now you have dame ruining trade talks because he's set his mind on going to Miami and i think the longer this goes on for the worst it is for everyone involved even Portland
I don't understand why outlets keep saying they signed him to an extension, so he has no right to say what team he wants to go to. When, once he's traded, Portland wouldn't be paying him anything. So, with that point, he wouldn't be on there books.

@TheFlightMike, Portland doesn't hold the leverage. They lost the leverage when they decided not to trade him before the beginning of the draft. Portland knew that they were planning to use that pick, and Portland knew that Dame preferred Miami then. That's when the leverage was in their hands. Right there and then, Portland should have called Miami, and they could have got 4 firsts, 1 second, pick swaps, and Kyle Lowry or one young player. But, now if they hold on to a player that will make the locker very uncomfortable for your young guys at the beginning of the season, then your going to be very eager to move him. 2 firsts, 1-2 seconds, 2-3 pick swaps,Kyle Lowry and 1 young guy.
This is what "loyalty" gets you. KD asked the Nets to trade him to the Suns, they did it that very season in a few days. Lillard asks the Blazers to trade him to the Heat? He gets the constant runaround and delays and them seeking any reason to send him to a team that isn't the one he asked for.

Joe Cronin needs to get off his stingy high horse and accept the reality he isn't going to get a better deal than when the Heat have offered. He's not getting a All-Star in return.
