Surely he won this series without being saved by a teammateā€™s lucky shot.

  2. DeWhite-DeJounte

Respect the talent, tbh. Cutting off Tony Parker’s drives, then timely blocking a Timmy D post up? Not a lot of people in history can even aspire to do it. Truly gifted.

  3. FatherHaz

Recency bias got mfs forgetting how good LeBron defensively was in his heyday

  4. liljizbaby

Miami Bron was one of the best non-center defenders ever

  5. majavic

That Spurs team was so stacked. Timmy, Manu, Tony, Boris, Kawhi. They’re probably in the top 10% of finals teams in nba history.

But that was physical peak LeBron with 10 years of NBA experience and a body that was able to match his prodigious basketball mind.

  6. I think that block ended Thiago Splitterā€™s career, seemed like he just disappeared after

  7. Impressive clip but Danny Green will lose his dribble if any of us were defending him too

  8. MrAppleSpoink

Ridiculous. Iā€™m genuinely not sure thereā€™s a single other player in NBA history who could simultaneously stay in front of Tony Parker on the perimeter then immediately switch and blow up a Tim Duncan post up.

Maybe Kevin Garnett or Giannis? Even then Iā€™m not sure they have the speed to guard Parker the way LeBron did.

  9. Syndana23

He was his best in Miami. Felt like thatā€™s the closest he ever looked to being on the same level as Michael

Miami LeBron (post 2011) was the greatest Alien. 2011 probably changed him entirely, and took him to a level that’s not even the GOAT, but literally an Alien. Unseen and unheard of

Unstoppable offense. Greatest BBIQ and playmaking. PEAK freakish athleticism, crazy reflexes, and jumping over grown men and OUTRUNNING everyone while being the size of a Karl Malone. Maybe even bigger

And guarding 1-5 seamlessly, all at the same time. Playing outrageous amount of minutes and obviously LIVING in the Playoffs and NBA Finals every season. Like a video game

And all that, with NO INJURIES..

2012 LeBron was also robbed off of his DPOY. Shameless robbery

  11. Scary-Strategy-4460

People who have written out LeBronā€™s Miami defensive peak are nuts. The amount of ā€˜Jordan was the best defenderā€™ comments u get bc of the DPOY, with no context of the kind of impact a versatile forward like this has.

  12. NegativesPositives

A random thought I had no way to make sense of without video- does any other guy bounce as much on perimeter defense as Lebron did during Miami and at least still be good?

  13. valiidiix

That block on Tiago Splitter was disrespectful

  14. shanmustafa

whatā€™s always shocked me about him is for as big as he is, he gets around and over screens at goat tier level

most players try to avoid the screen to get around, lebron does it with his anticipation and physicality

  15. Ironman2131

Man, that defense was so fun to watch with LeBron and Wade flying all over the place. Knife’s edge on a lot of plays. I have a feeling they’d struggle against all of the shooting in today’s game, but for the time it was perfect until the Spurs put on a master class.

  16. Ticonderoga2HB

Spo said he always wanted to put Bron at the 5 once

  17. copingthroughlife

Greatest floor raiser of all time.

LeBron could play position-less Basketball on both ends of the floor.

  18. After that first clip I remembered why I hated Parker so much

  19. HungerSTGF

This was _nine_ years ago. While it’s not going to be as frequent as back then, it blows my mind knowing that there’s still more “BLOCKED BY JAMES” to come soon

  20. materics

2012-2013 was when his brains and athletic ability were at their nearest levels.

  21. JaysonTatumsTie

Loved that series , memories ā¤ļø

  22. cwesttheperson

Lebrons actually a good defender still today when he tries, but when he wanted to be back in prime he was superb.

  23. VegetableBet4509

I know you don’t know ball the second you say LeBron can’t defend

    Dude definitely deserved a DPOY

  24. concept_I

Even father time can’t beat the highlight reels

  25. ViperishTuba86

Feels like the increase of the NBAā€™s fanbase in 2015 onwards has made people forget that Lebron is legitimately one of the greatest defenders of all time. A lot of fans have only seen Lebron when he started slacking off during the season and just assume heā€™s always been like that.

  26. mellted_cheese

Prime LeBron is the best and most versatile defender Iā€™ve ever watched

  27. Complex-Brother-8737

Lebron can lock down point guards all the way to centres, one of the most underrated defenders in nba history

  28. tttkm_N17

His defensive prowess will be forgotten, or at least not remembered as fondly, given his lack of a DPOY honor, but the streets donā€™t forget.

  29. ChannelNeo

Both teams played great defense this series and made the right adjustments most of the time.

  30. hatisbackwards

I love defensive highlights. Especially highlights that show guys moving their feet and staying in front not just steals and blocks.
