  1. Nearly every player in the NBA that’s around Wemby’s size has had either a season ending injury or a career ending injury. Yao Ming had to retire due to a back injury, Porzingis tore his ACL and hasn’t been the same since, 7’4” Ralph Sampson had to retire due to knee and back issues. The list goes on and on.

  2. It seems NBA players are getting injured more than usual. Starting to play full length season at 10 years old has destroyed their lower bodies. Europeans typically start slower and later, which I believe helps. Now that centers can't just camp the defensive paint players are making way more difficult movements on the body. Now with all this space, they are allowed to repeat this movements endlessly. That is why players are getting injured more now.

  3. PLEASE CHECK OUT VINCE CARTER. I’m not a basketball fan. I prefer street basketball. But I went to a game with my husband many years ago. Vince blew me away. He took me back in time when every summer we’d go to Harlem. Street basketball is the best. Ruckers Park come hard or stay your ass home. Guys had all types of moves that were prohibited in pro basketball until Dr. Jay brought the dunking to the pros. So please check out Vince Carter he’s one of my fave.

  4. He's a 3 in a 5 body… he'll get stun locked if he posts up against the big centers…. I think he needs to keep moving and crash the boards to get 20 points consistently….by moving I mean he needs to stay in that 15 foot range, he'll have height advantage vs. A typical 6'7" help side defender…my guess is that he needs to play a 4, hit the 10-15 footers and then crash the boards…now on defense, he's a great shutdown option to defend the game tieing or winning 3 point attempts because of his length…it would definitely try to put him on the best 3 pointer guy under 20 seconds left in the game…he has mobility

  5. Another one to check out, kind of on the Spurs topic, The Beautiful Game video of the 2014 champion spurs. It’s excellent

  6. Definitely check out some Chet Holmgren highlights if you can squeeze them in before the NBA season. He had a lot of hype coming out of high school and didn’t disappoint in college. Got injured, but has showed some really good stuff in this years summer league.

  7. His body looks like he'll fill out like Kevin Durant or Kevin Garnett. You can stay slim with height.

Anytime an addition like this comes to the NBA, it's great fun. Predicting injury goes for all athletes at any level, we have no idea yet.

  8. Most players over 7'2 have injuries that shorten their careers. Almost all of them are not fluid in the way they move and lack agility. That's what makes Wemby different and a curious case in terms of staying healthy. The closest thing we have ever seen to Wemby's mobility and agility is Ralph Sampson who's career was shortened due to injury. It's honestly pretty exciting to see how he handles injuries because Modern Medicine has become so developed over time so we can see how much that can lengthen Wemby's career. He's gonna get hurt, it's sports, everyone gets hurt at some point, but it's about how he deals with the injuries. I personally think he will be the first nba player at his size to have a decently long career that is consitently effective.

  9. Jxmyhighroller made a video about Wemby and in it he showed stats about bigmen and injury problems. I think it would show you just how injury prone bigmen are.

  10. React to ELF , it’s the European League of Football. They have teams throughout Europe but mostly in Germany

  11. ….he said “if hes Hakeem Olajuwon he hasnt met expectations” …….Hakeem did win 2 titles and completely destroyed an MVP winner in David Robinson (in the playoffs I might add) I feel like sports are more stat driven now that we forget the point of sports is winning championships. Jus me as a fan its great to break records or set new ones but you do all that but dont win championships….whats the point? 🤷🏾‍♂️ jus sayin.

  12. to answer your question about the tall players and injuries, the little group of players listed is probably over 50% of the league's players that's been over 7'3. the injury rate in terms of % really does jump WAY up when talking about insanely tall players

btw im someone who thinks Wemby can avoid major injuries. he's gonna get hurt, everyone does. but I don't think he'll be drowning in injuries like everyone thinks. but stuff like length of limbs definitely increases chance for injury to happen one way or another

  13. There has been only like 3 players 7'4" or taller that have made it in the NBA without early retirement from injuries.

  14. It’s a fact that players that of that size are more injury prone. Actually, the sample of players that are around Wemby’s size is very small because they’re just physical freaks, but I’m pretty sure they’ve ALL had to deal with injuries. I don’t think a human body is meant to be that size while still being capable of handling the full workload that an NBA athlete has.
