Consistent contender without paying the Luxury Tax? | New Orleans Pelicans HAVE to be trolling me

If they don’t ever pay the NBA’s Luxury Tax can the New Orleans Pelicans still become consistent contenders? Jake Madison answers looks at how the Pels could do it even if it’s a long shot. Plus, if they don’t want to pay the tax is it time for a new owner? Jake says not a chance. And he’s also convinced the Pelicans front office is tolling him.

  1. Milwalkee paid. Denver is going to pay for years to come. Point is: If an owner or ownership group doesn't want to pay, they shouldn't have a team. Jordan just got rid of his team, and I can all but guarantee the new group will be willing to pay within the next few years (just look at Matt Ishbia vs. Sarver). It's toxic to keep that mindset imo, that we are a "budget team" playing out of…"The Smoothie King Center". If I had a dime for every podcast that clowns on our team for the name of our arena or unwillingness to pay — hell, I could pay the luxury for them.

  2. please don’t let go of Garrett Temple just to pick up Rudy Gay… Lord have mercy

And i would like the team to pay the luxury tax. but it’s hard to warrant doing it when we haven’t seen our team healthy

  3. Thanks for answering my question Jake. I love this team but I’m so frustrated with the ownership group.

They want to keep raising ticket prices but won’t do their part by spending on the team or even making the games available to people who don’t want to pay $20 per month to watch (NBA League pass is only $10 to watch the whole league).

  4. Why do you keep suggesting we trade BI? He’s the heart and soul of our team and he wants to be here. Let him be a Pel for life

  5. We can be a championship contender for the next 2-3 years if we just stay healthy

  6. They’ve almost got no reason to pay it until Zion takes a full season seriously. Otherwise you are going to pay the tax for a team that probably won’t make the playoffs.

  7. As an Australian die hard fan of this team I really feel for the people of Nola. You guys are so passionate I couldn’t imagine the city if we were to actually win something one day. Y’all deserve some success
