Tim Bontemps on Donovan Mitchell situation in Cleveland – “I don’t think there’s any chance he signs an extension there ever. And if it was up to me, I would trade him today.”

that man is coming home for sure its a matter of when not if
I mean, who tf would want to live in Cleveland?

RJ or IQ, filler, and 3 picks let’s do it
Edit: Hope the downvotes are because my offer is a lowball not because you really wanna keep role players over a stud
sounds like speculation but he’s prob not wrong
I honestly don’t think it’s a ridiculous statement at all…
He’s only got 2 seasons left. I think it’s pretty clear that that was not his preferred destination and in 2 years he’s walking. If Cleveland were smart, they would go pillage some team right now and get a bunch of young assets and future draft picks.
If I were the Knicks, I would make any three players available (outside Brunson).. two unprotected firsts & two future first round swap rights.
That ultimately would be something like, RJ, Grimes, IQ, two unprotected first round picks, two swaps. If I’m Cleveland and I know Mitchell’s gone after the 25-26 season, I don’t hesitate.
That’s what happens when you have a backcourt of two little point guards.
Are we allowed to use that line now?
I’d rather wait, don’t want Melo 2.0
let him go to Brooklyn , the knicks don’t need him.
He’s leaving so much money on the table if he doesn’t extend. Maybe he’ll ask out and then extend or extend and then ask out. Although he might be of a different character since he never even asked out of Utah. I do know I want this guy on my team.
Cleveland didn’t lost because of him and Garland, the complaints on the cavs subreddit is that they lacked shooting and that Allen and Mobley can’t play together. Granted Mitchell didn’t shoot well. However my reservation is how a Brunson Mitchell backcourt would be defensively
as much as I like Donovan, I just don’t see the fit with Brunson. We will have an extremely short and weak defensive backcourt with both of them on the court together. Offensively it will be great but I just don’t see how this would get us closer to a chip since we will have to give up a ton of assets to get him. I much rather wait and see what happens with Embid, Luka, or Giannis. For marginal trades, we can try to get OG if he doesn’t cost the farm.
After what brunson showed in the playoffs, there aint no room on this team for don. Sorry. Brunson is just better when it matters. Not giving up assets for a player who will make the regular season fun but make the playoffs more painful than it already is.
These comments about a Brunson Mitchell backcourt being too soft defensively are insane. Most teams would shoot their GM into space if they missed on an opportunity to set that up
Wait what? Tf happened??
Bring my boy home and let’s be done with this
Some Knicks fans don’t understand long term team building and chemistry. Two 6’1” starting guards aren’t winning anything important in the NBA. Do y’all even watch basketball?
So who is it gona be, fellas. Brunson or Mitchell?
He’s gonna be a Knick. My favorite non Knicks player just like melo was
Welp. I hope RJ like Cleveland and IQ likes Toronto. Donovan and OG will be here soon enough 😩.
If you’re as high as I am on Quentin Grimes and on his **FIT** alongside Jalen Brunson, then this will always be a tough decision. Still think the Knicks need to upgrade at the 3 or the 4 instead of the 1, 2 or 5. Obviously Mitchell is better than Grimes in a vacuum, but is he better than Grimes + everything else going out in a trade for Mitchell?
