He could have left for nothing. We get something.

This take is so narrow sighted. He was a restricted FA. A team could have easily handcuffed us and taken him for nothing. We atleast got normal RFA sign and trade return for him. The new CBA screwed us with the new tax apron penalties… nothing we can do about it

    I thought it was 2 2nds and a 2nd swap?

The player performed his way to this situation the Celtics just out their hands up and let it happen. Organizations are powerless a lot of the time. This writer doesn’t understand the landscape and where the league is headed.

Wyc did cheap out it seems. Unless there is another move coming, not having Grant will most likely come back to bite us. Could have traded him next offseason once the new CBA kicks if we wanted to avoid the big tax penalties

It’s true that the Celtics got almost nothing after they invested a lot of time in making Grant a good role player.

It’s also true that you can’t justify spending 40 million in luxury tax to pay someone who got multiple DNPs throughout the playoffs.

Dude was a DNP like 75% of the time after the all star break. I’m sure we’ll be fine

Grant got overrated as fuck this offseason

  9. Joe decided to keep him out of the rotation at times. That’s enough to not pay him if coach truly feels that way. Getting Porzingis makes Grant expendable also.

I would have liked to have kept Grant too. That said, as I have said before, if Joe wanted Grant then Grant would still be a Celtic. You can disagree with Joe, but that’s really what it comes down to.

The new rules to the CBA fucked us with Grant. Don’t think we planned for having to give him away for dog shit. Unfortunate. Won’t blame the FO tho

Grant was a part of the cba that ended up pushing him out. Or at least he was one of the players who should be in the room and aware of the deal they are getting

We saw this same reactionary take right after the Derrick white trade too saying how much we got robbed. And look how that turned out. Why don’t we give it a year and see how it turns out?

It doesn’t matter. It’s time to move on and realize how much better this team has gotten. They can incorporate a zone defense that will be killer and play man/switch when the lineup allows.

Also, once the playoffs start it seems as though only 8 players ar the most will see playing time. At least that is what happened last season.

So that means Jaylen, Jayson, Al, Kristaps, Derrick, Malcolm, Rob and Sam will probably see the majority of playing time. Although, it seems with the talent on this team, more than 8 should be a real possibility. Kind of like last season.
