    Hey everyone. Not looking at Claxton and Ben Simmons alone Brooklyn defense as a whole which was a weakness for them has now become a huge strength due to the fact their whole main core of Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson Nic Claxton Ben Simmons Dorian Finney Smith Royce o Neale Spencer dinwiddie Dennis Smith Jr Lonnie Walker lV and Darius Bazley all possess strong defensive backgrounds 🔥…

    Defense is not going to be the issue. The issue is going to be how to unlock everyone's offense consistently so there is less reliance on the main core(Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton) to do the scoring and instead it's more team style oriented which will help Brooklyn better come together as a cohesive unit…

    Now looking at Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton ability to coexist together. Last season it was a bumpy beginning especially since both are non scorers given the fact they don't have a consistent jump shot each. However during Brooklyn 12 game winning streak last year Claxton and especially Ben Simmons defensive chemistry was really starting to come together 🔥….

    Now the key to this upcoming season is for Ben Simmons to return as a playmaker and less of a backup center role. His ability to dish out very important assist passes to help unlock his teammates offensive rhythm will be an important factor towards figuring out the offense…. Especially when it comes to Claxton if Simmons can throw some great lob passes and help Claxton increase his offensive numbers even more their ability to coexist on the court could improve more….

    During this summer Claxton has been in the lab working on unlocking more of his offensive skills and is working on making three point buckets.

    If Claxton can add three point scoring and especially a midrange shot of some sort to his game the league better look out 🔥…

    If Claxton can become more of a multi level scorer coupled with his much increased defensive skills he could definitely become an MVP caliber player…. 🔥

    As far as who I'm excited to see really step up this season is Dennis Smith Jr….

    He has that similar level to when Bruce Brown came to Brooklyn in which both had the defensive attributes locked down but needed to rediscover their offense. Bruce Brown did that and is now a champion. Dennis Smith Jr could have a very similar projection in Brooklyn if he can find that offensive balance and keep impacting the defensive side. Once he has both the offense and defense going together Smith is definitely a potential breakout player this year…..

    Adam is absolutely correct here,if all is good health wise ,Ben will primarily guard the 3pt line,point of attack, Claxton being the rim protector,this combination is going to be hilarious to watch defensively (again if everything is good health wise) at times just locking down offences and making them look silly

    Ben’s defence wasn’t even close to where he was before the injury, and that’s just how good he was on defence.
