Jrue Holiday and his curious efficiency drop, plus Giannis Antetokounmpo and the max salary issue!

What happens to Jrue Holiday and scoring efficiency in the postseason? Is it fatigue? Is it pressure? Is it shot selection? Kane breaks down some of the numbers and discusses a few theories as to why the all-star guard has struggled to shoot the ball in the postseason. Plus, how will Adrian Griffin manage the Bucks offense and minutes through the regular season? Also, Giannis Antetokounmpo produced some social media gold today, but it does raise a point about max salaries in the NBA…

  1. Personally I think Bud over played Brook and Jrue at times in the regular season while Giannis and Middleton seemed to always get their rest. I think while Jrue has an overall drop off he still has his elite moments. My main want for another PG is to allow Jrue to not have to play as many minutes during the regular season.

  2. I would really like someone to find the statistics on how many injuries the Bucks and Raptors had. Because last year the Bucks definitely had a lot more. When Paul George comes out and say that load management is wrong i'll listen to him a little more than the Bud's fanboys. In the NBA, they don't actually do training, conditioning like in football, the games are their training. So when you don't allow them even that, it makes sense that injuries increase. Strategically Bud has laid some strong foundations (drop back defense, defense without fouls, pace and space) but basketball is not only strategy with only one simple plan. And finally stop this thing with Spoelstra. There are at least 5 coaches in the league who are doing very complicated things in defense and offense. Apart from Middleton, I have no doubt that the players will respond to what the coach will ask of them, the question mark is the coach and his quality as a trainer and Middleton. The good intention from the rest will not be lacking.

  3. Giannis and Holliday have almost the same number of drives per game (12-14) and Brook is not the type to hit you with his power in the post. That they can hit more miss matches is obvious but that requires to have a coach. The "fact" that they can't do it because of Giannis is nonsense to put it politely. Wanting it to somehow become a strategic piece is also nonsense. Holliday needs a coach to explain to him when and where he will take shots aand a defensive plan that will not chase the best SFs in the league man-to-man as a f guard. The strategic part that needs changing is the f movement off the ball, what the new coach also said (let's focus there). We no longer have Bud here to see what stupid tweaks he can make to his stubborn plan, they supposedly got a coach to change the plan both defensively and offensively.

  4. I strongly disagree with your thoughts on the reason behind Jrue's struggles Kane. You cannot use extra minutes or taking on a larger defensive load as an argument when he is laying bricks from the first quarter. In fact a lot of the time he shoots better in the second half when he should be "tired". The stats back this up in 21 and 22 where he shot better or equal in the second half. (This year in the 5 games it wasn't true but it's a small sample size).

The real reason he struggles so much in the playoffs is his awful handle. When playoff intensity increases and defenders get up into his space he struggles to get to his spots at his own pace and is constantly forced to take shots and layups while off balanced. Note how he dribbled off his own foot in that warriors game.

Also how Kyrie who theoretically he should be able to bully, always locks him up because he's got good hands and gets into his space.

Sadly I don't really see him improving that much on this area this late in his career, we shipped Bledsoe off after three playoffs of this and Jrue's just done the same thing for the third playoffs.

Best hope is to get another scorer like you said and for the coaches to bench Jrue if he takes another shot in the playoffs without making one pass. Which should be a fireable offence for a point guard.

  5. Jrue holiday is asked to be a primary Playmaker and scorer while guarding the opposing teams best player. Bucks should trade for a young guard that can alleviate at Least one of those responsibilities really hoping we get Collin sexton or one of the magic guards. Underrated target bucks should go after is Suggs he was compared to Jrue in college and I feel he needs to be on a winning team to make an impact in the league

  6. Finally u had a great topic ….this is actually a great conversation to have concerning the bucks…and I've always told ppl that we gotta start to hold Jrue accountable in the playoffs…yea he'll have an ok game or 2 but more times then not he's playing like the 7th rotation man off the bench…..I think it's actually a better podcast wen Frank is not on bcuz he start to get n2 players money nd real fans dont care about that….keep these hot topics up💪🏿💪🏿

  7. Now, we are talking. Jrue Holiday must be held accountable. You can't be playing very irritable basketball and think it is okay to collect such pay from the organisation

  8. Lmao y’all too ticky tacky. If you played the sport you’ll realize that he’s is not a 1st nor 2nd option on a championship team. So don’t expect him the be perfect all the time, there are too many factored to be over critical when most things are more simple than complicated.

  9. The main concern with the bucks this year are backup pg, Jae crowder, better and more efficient offense, staying healthy while appropriately, managing minutes of star and role players, the curious development of Beauchamp, not G league highlights, but NBA minutes. A little bit more than half the time even before his minutes getting cut, and also how much working out in the summer getting bigger over to season, it still looks like he needs more work, and to let the game come to him. He forces up entirely too many unnecessary shots, it ends up, turning over half of those times. Lastly, The development and comparisons of what Adrian Griffin first season is going to look like. Is it going to be like Udoka? Is it going to be more mediocre what are the thoughts?

  10. We hold Jrue accountable for everything because we won when he came to the Bucks. It's clear to me that when Khris came back Jrue took a step back. When Khris was coming off the bench Jrue Numbers was up but right at the end of the season he deferred. I just saying hold Khris to the same standards if not higher that you hold Jrue!! Khris has been gone due to injury but also even worse then Jrue when he came back!! My Question is who has been the second best player for Bucks the pass 3 year seriously? My answer in order
    1. Giannis
    2. JRUE
    3. BROOK
    4. KHRIS
JUST WATCH THE PAST 2 PLAYOFFS EXITS SERIES AGAIN PLEASE 🙏🏿

  11. @Kane – Thank you for making this video.

You are spot on. Jrue Holiday takes a ton of low quality shots. He struggles to win one-on-one off the dribble. He doesn’t get anything easy.

    • Step Back Jumpshot
    • Posts Ups against bigger defenders
    • Shots on the baseline over the backboard.

We need a Point Guard or another ball handler to lighten his load offensively. This would help Holiday and Giannis get easier shot attempts.

We really need a player who can win of the dribble and get to the rim and collapse the defense.

  12. @LockedOnBucks who do you believe is the most indispensable bench player that the Bucks have? Portis? Connaughton? Crowder? Beasley? The Field?

  13. Great Topic Kane!!!!
Jrue needs to do one or the other!
I believe his defense has lacked as well as his offense! Like you said maybe he can be the fourth guy tht we need we can’t expect him to put up these huge numbers on offense when he more focused on defense. But definitely need to step up Jrue especially in the PLAYOFFS!!!!
