Is Jordan Clarkson the Utah Jazz point guard?

The NBA is moving away from the traditional point guard with nearly a thrid of the teams no longer implementing the traditional point guard. For the Utah Jazz that may mean that Jordan Clarkson is the point guard for the team to start the season. Why is the league moving in this direction? What does it mean for the Utah Jazz?

David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider takes a look at the Utah Jazz lineup data with the remaning players on the roster and the Jazz pick and roll numbers from last year.

What is clear is the Jazz have limited pick and roll exposure with the current players and maybe this is a sign the Jazz are moving away from the NBA’s most frequented play the pick and roll.

Locke also takes a look at the power rankings of ESPN and the Athletic and where they put the Utah Jazz.

  1. I can't see clarkson, agbaji, markkanen, collins, kessler as 1st unit because like you said, not enough ball handling. Even clarkson's handle not great so think that would be terrible lineup. I would say sexton at pg and clarkson sg makes sense and probably what will be. That leaves horton-tucker, agbaji, fontecchio, olynyk, yurtseven (maybe hendricks) as 2nd unit which i'm totally excited about and think will kick ass. Horton-tucker, agbaji and olynyk played lot together end of last season and worked well. I actually think this 2nd unit better than the 1st and main reason we're going to be so good this year.

  2. Am I wrong in thinking Collins will be more effective without Walker on the floor? Sexton, Clarkson, Lauri, Olynyk, and Kessler might be your best starting 5. Now, can you convince Collins to come off the bench? Then, a combination of Dunn, George, Agbaji, and THT playing a second wave. I still think Dunn is a dark horse to get meaningful minutes.
