What was more impressive? Donovan Mitchell going for 71 in a win over the Bulls or going for 40 4 straight times at the end of the seasons?

We don’t appreciate this guy and what he did last year nearly enough. He’s already an all-time Cavs legend. And IMO pretty clearly the best player we’ve had before and after LeBron James.

How has this not been brought up?

4 straight 40pt games

44 against the Hawks

42 against the Knicks

40 against the Pacers

43 against the Magic

[Here’s the first three](https://youtu.be/-9nCA36YyuE)

[And the 4th](https://youtu.be/bNo-qH-yIRg)

Only 4 players in NBA history have had 4 straight 40pt games: Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, James Harden, and Donovan Mitchell.

Orr the single night he was absolutely immortal against the Bulls with 71?!

Mitchell became just the 6th player to eclipse 70pts and was joined by Lillard later who became the 7th. The list is: Wilt Chamberlain, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard.

Just unbelievable efficency and consistency scoring the basketball. Let’s take a break from worrying about his future and enjoy what we have. He’s a delight.

IMO the 71pt game was shocking because everything he did was CRITICAL to pulling out the victory. As far as observing something it was one of, if not THE best performance I’ve seen by an individual in the NBA. Yes, I’ve seen every LeBron and Kyrie game. This was ludicrous. Perfection. Masterful.

The 40pt streak *might* be more difficult to do. I have to look it up as I’m not sure how rare that is. Just crazy how easily people brush off what he did last year.

I can’t wait to watch more 🕷️ next year!!!

I would say 71 just because Don gets 40 fairly frequently

Unfortunately he’s at the point of his career (and asking for the contract) where the only thing that matters is the post season and he laid a giant egg against the Knicks. It’s really a shame everyone collectively jumped on Jarrett freaking Allen when the “franchise player” embarrassed himself in the playoffs 2 years in a row.

I know he has excuses. I personally thought JB killed us. Whatever. I’m just saying nothing he does in the regular season is impressive anymore. We need it from him April through June.

IMO the 71 pt game. Like you said, it was WHILE leading a comeback.

He’s better than I anticipated, and I know he’s gonna show up next year in the playoffs. IMO if the Cavs manage to extend and keep him here, that alone will officially mean they won the trade. If they are able to keep Mobley, Garland, and Mitch together for 5+ years, you live with the results.

What made the 71 pts even more impressive was the 16 points at halftime! He had no business getting 71 points and just came out in the second half like a man on a mission!

    1st quarter: 5 pts
    2nd quarter: 11 pts
    3rd quarter: 24 pts
    4th quarter: 18 pts
    OT: 13 pts

I don’t even want to be around anymore

On a related note. I want to see the ball in Mobley and Garland’s hands more this year.

Not that it matters to your main point, but David Robinson also scored 71 in a game.

He has one awesome year and he’s the best player before and after lebron? I know you guys hate kyrie as a person but the dude was ridiculous on the court for us for several years…
