Obviously the even bigger lingering question is going to be about Simmons’ mental health, given that was the cause of his collapse in the Sixers/Hawks series, but this will be the first time we’ll have seen him physically healthy since he’s joined Brooklyn. The Nets are currently struggling to find any playmaking outside of Dinwiddie, so could Simmons be the answer they’re looking for?

This man was miles ahead of Dinwiddie and Dennis Smith Jr. not too long ago. If he can’t secure a starting position he is cooked

Sixers ending the Embiid era with a first round loss to the Nets with Simmons would be hilarious

I trust this sub will be rooting for him to succeed

This time things will be different

I know Ben has done himself no favours but I’m excited he at least can be healthy. And if he’s like last season again this season now that he’s healthy. THEN it’s time to meme.

  6. MSKOnlyScans

There’s no longer any pressure to succeed at least.

I really feel like this season he will get back to around 14/7/7 with elite defense. Tag me and call me a dumbass if I’m wrong but I don’t think he simply forgot how to drive and finish. Not a max contract type of player but maybe an occasional all star in a weak year with multiple more all-defensive teams in his future.

Would be funny if came back nailing right handed jumpers

Step 1: Fake a mysterious back injury or fake mental illness

Step 2: Sit out all games and collect your check and party in Miami

Step 3: Have your agent “leak” workout videos of you dunking and pay off Shams and Woj to tweet out good PR for you, give people false hope again

Step 4: when it comes time actually to play fake another injury

    Step 5: ????

    Step 6: Profit

35m/year and is going to “compete” for a job. Someone done fucked up.

The summer is always when Ben Simmons really shines.

Competing for a starting role is what you want to hear from a player you’re maxing out.

That team could be a damn problem.

The dribble handoff will feature heavily in the Brooklyn offense this year.

This is less believable than the UFO shit

I would love to see Simmons get back to the player he was. Even with the shooting thing, he was really impactful.

  18. k-mac23

All he has to do is to finish drives or pass out and play defense to be a completely serviceable point guard.

15/8/8 or something like that and he may not be worth his contract but he’ll be a respected player.

Sure we’ll see the empty gym jumpers next, suckers

Genuinely wish him well. If he can become a solid rotation player, that would be pretty awesome.

  21. jackaholicus

Well, I’m skeptical, but I hope he can recover. Back issues and mental issues are a bitch.

  22. kungfoojesus

Lol. It will take a lot to not see him as a joke at this point

  23. Viciouscauliflower21

I mean I’d love for Ben to get back in prime form but this is the definition of a “I’ll believe it when I see it” situation

  24. SerDavosSeaworth64

I am also 100% healthy and ready to compete for the starting PG job in Brooklyn

  25. SoyScandal

Crazy how people virtual signal about “men’s mental health” and the story about what led to mental health deteriorating is out there and people still cry about him faking it.

  26. mysticwavex7

dudes about to post a video of him shooting mid range jumpers and threes.

  27. NIN10DOXD

Can someone tell this man that he is a Point Forward not a Point Guard. He was so much more valuable in Philadelphia when he spent time guarding the inside and out than just the perimeter.

  28. Huckleberry_Ginn

Honestly, people say he’s mental and that caused his downfall, but maybe the dude was truly in uncomfortable pain constantly and struggled all-around.

We all make simmons out to be this monster and he hates basketball, myself included, but I think people can turn the ship around at any point, and maybe he’s doing that. I’m all for a league with a successful ben simmons – he’s great to watch.
