How is Tony Battie remembered by Orlando fans?

I’m a casual NBA card collector and and trying to assemble jersey swatch cards from our entire 2009 team.

Tony Battie arrived in the mail today and I wondered what fans thought/remembered of him in hindsight.

I don’t recall any specific plays or moments, but more so his role which was as backup and mentor to a young Dwight Howard.

Anything stand out for anyone else?

He wasn’t spectacular but was a great off the bench vet to have at the time with a younger roster.

Good locker room guy, decent rebounder and defender, knew his role and never tried to do anything he wasn’t capable of.

He was a solid vet who did his job when called upon. Nothing bad to say about him

I’d love a Batman type player for this team rn. Great vet to have. Good locker room guy. Not quite an enforcer but close enough to it.

This team needs a tough vet.

I love Tony Battie. Got a pic with him when I was so young. Respect to him, nice to see him on the sub

I forgot about him until this post to be honest.

Yeah solid bench backup is about it. Can’t think of any highlight plays or memorable moments on the court.

  8. I was on a flight with him once from Philly to Orlando when I was about 14. I didn’t know who he was but he was obviously a basketball player based off his build. A couple days later he signed with the Magic and I’ve been a fan ever since.
