The way people are excusing Dame requesting a trade to the Miami Heat as “just to have a chance” is fascinating.
Lillard also is not Durant. Even if Lillard had left at 25 I think most ppl would still be okay. He is great but not that great.
But a top 20 all time talent like Durant at his peak joining a 73 win team, of course those rings would not mean that much.
I just think it is natural for most fans to have much higher expectations on all time greats like Durant.
Did he watch NBA in the last 3 years or is he talking about media coverage? And will KD respond to this obvious dig at him?

Lillard is the rare case where a trade request is justified – he’s given it his all and Portland is failed.
Unfortunately he’s fucking it up by trying to force himself to only one team, which is neither fair to Portland nor the rest of the league.

My beef is with a player who’s under contract demanding to be traded to a specific team. The Lebron to Miami and KD to Golden State moves were lame from a competitive perspective, but at least they were free agents and were at liberty to choose whichever teams they wanted to go to.
the parity comment is funny because there are so many good teams who can realistically win a ring nowadays while back then it was maybe 2-3 teams per conference with one of them being clear fucking favorite. Like noone had a chance when bulls had pippen mj and rodman, or when Lakers were built like an all star team in the early 2000s.
I think reports that Dame is insisting on it being the Heat is what has soured people on his request. If he had just said he wants to be on a team that can contend I think people react a little differently.
