Reporter explains why James Harden has not been traded yet

According to Sixers insider Kyle Neubeck of The Philly Voice, LAC [has remained “fairly unserious”](https://www.phillyvoice.com/mailbag-joel-embiid-best-player-never-make-conference-finals-dominique-wilkins/) regarding the trade package they’re willing to offer in exchange for Harden. Neubeck further states that while Harden is still considered valuable to rival front offices, he’s lost the “franchise-defining clout” that helped push forward the previous trade demands he made in 2020 and 2022.

His declining play aside, I don’t know what harden expected. Nobody wants to take on a big commitment on a contract for a player who will ask out at the slightest inconvenience

I’d bet dollars to donuts that Harden will be a wearing a 76ers jersey in next year’s playoffs

He’s not Beal or Dame, Harden’s market was basically set by the Kyrie Irving (expiring) deal last year to the Mavs: Dinwiddie, Finney Smith, FRP, 2SRPs. Can see Morey getting less, although doesnt help that Kyrie did not lead them anywhere.

Teams with good frontcourts but needing a primary ballhandler in the backcourt because even their prospects are ‘underwhelming’.

Orlando (Fultz, Suggs) – Franz Wagner’s aptitude perhaps speeds up their timeline? Cole Anthony and Anthony Black could do well to learn behind Harden for a year. Orlando has two ‘extra’ FRPs on top of their own. DEN25, PHO26. No state taxes means a pay raise for Harden.

New Orleans (Alvardo) – Will new CBA allow them to keep Trey Murphy and Herb Jones, along with Ingram and Zion?

Detroit (Killian Hayes) – Bogdanovic is wasting his time there.

Miami (Herro) – Openly looking to upgrade from Tyler Herro.

Imagine trading SGA, 5 firsts, and 2 pick swaps for this Kawhi/PG13 window, and then having cold feet on giving up Terrance ‘8ppg 27 year old future superstar’ Mann on a last chance at getting that chip.

His value will be highest nearer to the trade deadline. Teams will know what they do and don’t have and be looking to offload salary and in some cases offload salary AND get a very productive player.
