Ah OP, doing your part for titillating Tuesday, I see.

  2. Few_Mulberry5372

Yea if you asked r/nba you would think Harden turns into Raymond Felton in the playoffs

Def some ugly chokes but he’s not nearly as bad as people think

  3. aligreaper19

turns out kobe isn’t that clutch after all

  4. ConfuciusBr0s

Kobe most overrated player in nba history lets be honest

  5. Old-Vermicelli-8678

isn’t Kobe like famous for his inefficient shooting/high-volume shooting? Also, 22 pts in Kobe’s era meant much more than in Harden’s. Also, everyone knows the games Harden has choked in because they’re infamous. The one time he made it to the WCF without cp3, he had to be benched.

Throw Devin booker elimination game stats in here : 14/5/2 on 30% shooting

  8. seasoned-veteran

He had 9 points on 3-11 shooting in game 7 vs the Celtics this year and was emotionally absent from the game.

  9. LargeSizeBox

Kobe is proof that narratives often trump reality.

Just go look at his career stats in the Finals.

  10. njwineguy

Now do the same with defensive stats. Just curious.

  11. atlfirsttimer

That says more about Kobe than it does about Harden

  12. suprememontana

People in this thread really forgetting Kobe won 5 rings. Harden will never sniff Kobe’s legacy

  13. waconaty4eva

Is this adjusted for round at all? Kobes played like 40 finals games and Harden has played 6.

  14. trevortins

It’s not a surprise to see these stats for anyone who actually watches the nba and doesn’t just band wagon on any narrative this dumb sub promotes. It’s sad that people act like all harden does is shut down in any meaningful moment he’s so much more than that.

  15. rvilla09

It’s not about stats…Kobe did everything he possibly could to get that win. Huge difference. Not to knock harden or anyone else just Kobe was on a different competitive level.

  16. Le8ronJames

Kobe GOAT crew won’t like this post

  17. tboneperri

Kobe only gets talked about as the best clutch player of his generation or even suggested as a top 10 all time because he played for LA.

  18. strongmanjeff

Kobe played in the era with the worst offensive spacing

  19. ExperienceRadiant537

And I’ll still rather have Kobe over all of them when it comes to last shot and elimination games ! Cuz Kobe still has the most game winners all time and still have 8 buzzer beaters and 9 game winners in one season !
All while playing TOUGHER COMP IN THE WEST !

And Kobe will remain the most clutch player of all time
If Kobe scores 60 points he is winning 100% of the time the only player in history to win games with high scoring ,if Kobe drops 50 or 60 or more on a team he is Guaranteed to win

This one stat line don’t tell the whole story

  20. TigerKlaw

If you want to go at at Harden the average stats just protect how common is awful games are in the playoffs. The dips are just too great and too common to be considered “ehh, shot just wasn’t falling that night”

From 2017 onwards, a 5/16 and 8/25 game from him vs OKC both which the Rockets won where Harden went 2/20 from 3

The obvious 2017 play against the Spurs where he got blocked by ancient Manu Ginobli without a Kawhi Leonard. A 3/17 and 2/11 game in that series.

In 2018, a 2/18 1/10 3FG game against Minnesota which the Rockets actually won.

4 straight games against the Jazz where Harden went 32/83 and 6/35 3FG but the Rockets only lost the first one.

He had a couple of duds against GSW as well, but the game 5 5/21FG is overlooked because the Rockets won in spite of his 0/11 3FG. And the 27 straight missed threes game where he contributed 2/13 3FG to, shot great from within the arc though.

In 2019, another 3/20 FG game where he shot 2/13 3FG against Minnesota but they still won. A 9/30 game against the warriors with a 4/16 3FG game that they lost.

In 2020, another 2/11 FG game against the Lakers in game 4 and a 5/16 one against OKC.

And beyond that I don’t think it’s fair to compare only his shooting numbers since he had taken more of a passing role than iso scoring role.

The point is, the notion that Harden “isn’t as bad in the postseason as everyone says” is incorrect in my opinion. He’s also had some great games this last year, that were followed by more 2 and 3 FG made games.

  21. rust_devx

Kobe, KD, Duncan with 200+ shots caught my eye … And then LeBron with like 350+ – sheesh!

  22. bbuucckk

You can only find this type of hard hitting analysis on r/nba. Nothing better than trolling statmuse to post stats without any context to try and prove a point.

  23. Love how people can play with stats to make it like Harden is as good (or better) than Kobe

    Nice try
