To answer your question Mr Michell, Joe Cronin is the GM of the Portland Trail Blazers, not the Portland Dame Lillards. He has an obligation to make the best trade possible for the franchise he works for, not a player who already has one foot out the door. Those who want "what's best for Dame" don't have to answer to Portland's ownership. If Portland is smart enough to play the long game they'll get the return they are looking for in exchange for a Hall Of Fame player. At that point if Miami is not willing or can't pony up the assets to match other attractive offers made by other teams, THAT'S ON MIAMI…not Portland.
