Then he asked if he has any female relatives lol

It’s really good advice. Very similar to what Alex Caruso said, “A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don’t realize the position they’re trying out for. It’s like going to a job interview thinking you’re going to be the CFO of the company, and they’re looking for someone to clean the bathrooms.” Applicable to anything in life, really.

Not really NBA content though. (Off season is sooooo long. When does next season start?)

Just found out Mark Eaton passed away 3 years ago, at only 64, R.I.P. Great story, it’s crazy to think how bigs today are expected to do everything, the complete opposite of what he was advocating for lol.

It’s amazing that this conversation turned a guy who was getting like 4 minutes a game in college into a ten year starting center in the league and 2 time DPOY and one of the most feared shot blockers in his time.

Great advice but kinda hard to follow as a software developer as we are increasingly supposed to know all sorts of topics. Can’t just be a backend java dev, now you have to know frontend, tons of frameworks, web dev, databases, security, devops and more.

This is also a good example of where conventional public speaking skills can take you, as taught in Toastmasters and elsewhere. It can get somewhat hackneyed, but it’s often very compelling and it’s much more effective than having no particular style at all.

Rest in peace to both of them.

I like the advice of “excel where you can excel and rely on your team where you can’t” though I’m not sure “stop trying new things” is the message you really want to give off

Can’t wait to tell my boss tomorrow I’m doing to much and need to focus on the one thing I’m good at.

Crazy that the most recent season someone appeared towards the top of the list of most blocked shots in a season was ‘03-‘04

  13. Why does this come off like a Tony Robbins motivational infomercial?

Most well spoken and inspirational car mechanic I’ve ever heard.

I try and tell my manager this repeatedly and, even though he can definitely put me in that space to succeed, he just doesn’t understand it and therefore is not really hearing it.
