Overall the correct move and best situation for the Lakers. If AD took his ETO next summer he could’ve signed for even more money which would decrease the Lakers salary cap even further. AD didn’t want to take the risk, smart.

Amazing news. It sounds like a fuck ton of money, but this is a lot less than he could have gotten if he got to free agency after this season.

The big guy earned it after his play last post season. He is arguably the top defender in the league and still has the potential to get 40 and 20 on any given night

A lot of the fans be toxic as fuck. AD is a perennial all star and all defensive anchor for this team. He clearly can do it. We just gotta back our guy up here.

Absolute no brainer for both sides. Lakers lock in generational talent through their entire prime and if it doesn’t pan out then worst case scenario you attach a pick or a younger player to unload him. For AD, he gets job security with his spotty injury history and assurance that he will be a centerpiece in the post Bron era. If he feels we not putting a contender around him he can just go the Dame route.

Dang, that’s Lebron and Steph type money. ADs gotta step up though and stop thinking himself as Robin. He has flashes, but hasn’t been consistent. Hope he proves me wrong.
