Victor Wembanyama Defies Conventional Basketball Thinking…

In 2003 LeBron James entered the NBA. In 2013 Giannis Antetokounmpo entered the NBA. Ten years since Giannis entered the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs selected Victor Wembanyama first overall. As a player who truly is like nothing we have ever seen. We have never seen someone this tall, with this level skill, these kind of movement skills, and feel for the game. He’s truly something fictional come to life.

Which makes it hard to keep his projections and expectations confined to conventional basketball thinking and logic. It’s really hard to find players to base the projections for Victor Wembanyama on. Because we really don’t have any players to look back on and compare him to. But that’s what makes this so fun

My name is Noah Terranova. On this channel I make videos breaking down the film of basketball players in both long term and single game contexts. I use a combination of advanced stats, basic stats, tracking stats, and what I take away from watching the games to form my evalutions. My goal is to give my own perspective on the game with my own little twist on how I choose to present it.

  1. Totally agree, inconsistent offensively but defensive monster and his offense will develop over time

  2. I imagine that Victor will be an inconsistent shooter in his first few seasons but he will definitely improve, I think his peak fg percentage could be 48-50% range

  3. Just found your channel and I see a bunch of basketball vids 10+ mins, yes plssss SUBBED

  4. That 3.5 assist per game projection is insane. Assist per game is maturity stat. You see guys double and triple their rookie apg numbers once they reach their prime(harden for example). 3.5 is crazy for a rookie center. He wont even get the opportunity to make enough turnovers to get 3.5 apg simply because the spurs are going to protect his confidence. I do think the other rookie projections are pretty reachable at 21 and 8

  5. I agree that he will be an immediate difference maker on defense…when he’s on the court. And that’s the problem with your projections — the spurs won’t give him typical starter minutes as a rookie. They are going to be extremely cautious with him early on and will be in full load management mode all season with him. 14 ppg, 8 reb, 1.5 blocks.

  6. Although I am a die hard Rockets fan. I will definitely be watching this guy!!!!! The future for the NBA is looking bright
