RJ hits an open corner 3…good, need to see plenty more of that next season.

With the Canadian National Team he’s playing more with the ball. Not surprised.

Before I open it, if it’s a series of plays where he starts his dribble at the three point line and with one arm bullies his way to the rim only to take a very exhaustive layup off the backboard with a few a few assisted three pointers I’m not moved regardless of the total.
But let’s see, and I’ll give an update
Update: literally the first play is exactly the only move he has. I could’ve done a better job explaining it, but that exact move. The screen on the right elbow where he dribbles hard left, somehow the screen isn’t enough to fully blow by his defender because he’s not particularly fast and must resort to what amounts to a stiff arm with his not dribbling arm and finishes the basket for no other reason than he bullied his defender. I can’t say it isn’t somewhat effective because he uses it again and again and scores, but damn. There’s zero nuance to his game. There’ll never be a defender that touches earth because of RJ, never a situation where that move turns into some change of direction and he ends up on the other side. Never will he go untouched. It’s just so basic man. I would say his game is more suited for the 80s and 90s when forwards couldn’t dribble but then they’d have a post game. He’s got the nuance of a power forward at 6’6.
I had to laugh when Drew Hanlon said in an interview that they’d been working on shiftiness for a year and a half and it wasn’t really working so now they’re trying power instead.

Non of these highlights say much to me. I’d be happy just to see him drive to his right, make a quicker move/decision with the ball or if his form looked more fluid….
