Embiid is so lucky Ben took the heat off from him this series. Shooting 4/20 in a game as a center is actually embarrassing
Not to mention games 6 and 7 where he had like 16 turnovers

This is Ben’s Omaha Beach

Some still say to this day that he passes up wide-open looks.

It’s really one of those “Oh this will be replayed for years and years.”

They ain’t ready for the Ben Simmons comeback year…

I don’t see anything wrong here.

such bullshit. He lost the dribble then passed to a guy cutting to the rim. Philly fans are such POS when it comes to Ben.
Bajecco
What I find funny is that Simmons had been pulling this gutless act his entire career. He would routinely get to the rim for what should have been an easy dunk or layup, then spin away from the basket to throw up an awkward hook, fade away, or pass. It drove me crazy. Someone should super-cut of Simmons passing up easy dunks and layups. He did it at least once per game his entire career.
BubblyDirection8968
I still cant believe this.
The play itself is head-scratching, but seeing that it was the beginning of ben simmons rapid decline should be hilarious but its actually real sad.

Selfless basketball right here. This man truly does not care about stats.

I wish somebody would finally post video of this on this subreddit.

Making the extra pass. Turning down an awesome shot for a good shot.

Draymond would be proud.

The only defense I can see him having is that hr lost control of the ball and by the time he recovered he was under the net snd saw Matisse there close enough for the cut eith his man off him.
Pretend_Highway_5360
im sorry but thats not an open dunk
he passed it to an open man, like its a good play
y’all just wanted to hate on him so bad

Oh look, another embiid hate post. Yay🔥

I heard a story once about how Ben was invited to a friend’s family reunion, with dozens of people there. Eventually everyone wanted to get a group picture to commemorate the event. Since Ben was the only non-family member there, he was asked to take the picture. Eventually everyone arranged themselves on the lawn for the photo but Ben declined to participate. Even then, when all these people were relying on him, he just couldn’t take the shot.
ohmygodbeats7
I really don’t think this play is as bad as people make it.
dino_nuggys7
I get it’s an open dunk but thybulle still got fouled and made 1 of 2.
This loss and the series loss aren’t entirely ben’s fault but more of a team loss. The game shouldn’t have come down to that play anyways.
Doc and Joel are lucky they had a scapegoat in Simmons.
surebudd
I feel for Ben Simmons man. Poor guy.
slowdrem20
Trae is 6’1 and no they not statpadding him!
Shenanigans80h
I genuinely wonder if Simmons will ever recover from this. He’s literally never been the same player. And not even from an injury perspective either. He doesn’t even approach the game the same way as he did before; dude is comically pass first in a way that’s similar to this clip.

Ben Simmons is one of the basketball players of all time.

The most infamous 1 point swing with 3:30 left in a game ever

Thank you for reminding us that Trae Young ended The Process.

The repercussions of this pass are pretty wild.

Ben…. WHO ON THE HAWKS IS SCARING YOU?!?! IS IT TRAE, GALLINARI?
siphillis
My brother-in-law doesn’t follow basketball, but even he was completely perplexed as to why anyone would pass the ball in that situation. I had been watching basketball closely for over a decade and had no answers for him.
Huemagus
Still wonder how much would’ve changed if Doc didn’t shit on Ben in the press conference.

“Ben I have a question for you, can you please answer this. Who on the Hawk is scaring you? Is it Trae Young? Is it Gallinari? Who is it, Ben?”
thekeylimeguy
Jesus I hadn’t seen this in eons. It looks even worse watching it back now the amount of space he has is ridiculous to pass out of. Hell at one point the ball is less than 2ft from the rim when he passes it lmao he couldn’t have just bunny hop dunked. Trae didn’t even contest
PillsburyToasters
I’ll still never forget seeing reports that Simmons faked having COVID to avoid playing this game. Man was in a mental rut

Late 4th quarter of Game 7.

Trae is 6’1. Why y’all always shrink people.
He was 6’ 1/2” without shoes, 6’1 3/4” with shoes at the combine. He’s not 5’11
herro_preeeze
It’s rare you see the precise moment a player’s career changes for the worse outside of an injury. Nick Anderson missing the 4 free throws, Ralph Sampson getting ejected vs the Celtics, and this Ben Simmons shot.
The16th
Ah is it Ben Simmons roasting time? What more can the nephews on /r/nba add to the conversation about how Simmons cannot shoot a basketball. Talk about beating a dead horse.

Lol not this again…
Sixers definitely don’t regret letting Butler walk.
I think something inside me died watching this play live
This hasn’t gotten any better with age. This hurts to watch.
At absolute best this is horrible decision making.
This is going to be a reasonable thread for sure.
This was the play that i knew this dude was ass he had a wide open look hesitated and pretty much threw it away dude is an over paid soft bum
You can even see Trae try to run from getting dunked on and he still passes it.
Trae’s reflective bald spot blinded him. Couldn’t even see the rim.
Still dunno why he was posting up here if he was afraid to score
U can see Embid doing a “WTF ??”
