Turkish center Alperen Sengun is showing out on the international stage. Sengun and Turkey squared off with Poland in a FIBA pre-Olympic qualifying match against Poland on Monday. Turkey would end up taking a 3-point victory, 87-84, largely thanks to the Rockets big man. Everything looked too easy for Sengun, as he flirted with a triple-double, and finished the match with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. And honestly, I’d say this is just a preview of things to come. Sengun had an impressive second year jump in Houston last season, going from ten points and 5 rebounds in year one to 15 points and 9 rebounds per game last season. And that was with a head coach in Stephen Silas who seemingly had no idea how to utilize him. He fits the new unique mold of big men, who can pass like a guard and completely revolutionize an offense that is headlined by Nikola Jokic. With a new head coach coming in with Ime Udoka, who took a team to the finals in his last season coaching, we’re going to see a completely different Sengun. We’re getting a glimpse at it now with Turkey, and mad does it look good. He’s playing like a star on the international stage, and is being featured in an exciting way. Alperen Sengun is previewing an NBA Breakout with Fiba Dominance.
Think about subbing, I’m on the road to 10k!!!
