Trae Young wants to represent his country in the Olympics but he has been frozen out for years. His fans say the reason has nothing to do with his talent. This is a look at the real reason Trae has been blackballed from Team USA.
I just don’t think they feel Trae is good enough at what he’s good at —really inefficient pull up jump shooter for his volume, but a very good passer—to make up for his deficiencies. In a team of stars, someone has to do the dirty work; Trae either can’t or he won’t.
Call me crazy, but I would much rather have players who actually care and really want to represent USA be on the team. If someone else is better, but doesn't really care, don't let him on Team USA

He doesn’t do the little things it takes to win and he can’t be effective when the whole offense isn’t ran through him. He doesn’t move off-ball, doesn’t show any willingness to defer or be a cog in a system, etc.
Trae Young is receiving the same treatment Reggie Miller received back in his day. But at least Reggie made Team USA's 1996 squad. To no surprise, it's probably the way Trae looks. A small guy that doesn't appear to be much. Yet, he does bust a lot of asses out there against players that appear to be bigger and better players. Same thing with Reggie. A rail thin guy that took a lot of opposing players to town. Most of us know that type of guy on most courts that are similar to Trae and Reggie.
He’s the worst defender in the league tho. He needs to at least put in a little effort on that side of the ball. After the disaster in the early 2000’s, team USA doesn’t want to get embarrassed again and rightfully so IMO

Trae isn't a Top 5 all-arround guard in the league. He's too small and his D is HORRIBLE (no effort). All glitz and little substance.
