Oh well he wouldn’t be the first… voter fatigue comes with the territory.

  2. dys0n_giddey

I’m sure Nikola gives zero fucks about this

They weren’t about to have an Eastern European player win it three times in a row, despite him being deserving of it. He bulldozed his way past the Miami Heat for a chip, but Joel got the award and he did what everyone expected him to do. Got bounced.

Which sucks, because he has so much talent, and he’s gotten so much help that Philly at LEAST should’ve made a return to the finals at some point.

Sometimes it works for you, and other times it never does. I don’t know if Joel will ever make it in Philly, but I will never wish negatives for any player, so here’s hoping someday he can make it there. Sometimes you have to leave in order to win your first chip.

I mean, Demarcus Ware didn’t win shit until he left Dallas for the Broncos.

Tracy McGrady stays one more year with SA he would’ve gotten his first chip.

I am not a voter and I have fatigue of this discussion.

Correct. It’s funny how this is the majority opinion on this sub when there was a violent anti-Jokic trend around March or so.

  6. JonnyTactical

I’d love to hear Kendrick Perkins take on this again.

  7. I think Jokic wanted nothing to do with the MVP starting sometime in March when the conversation got toxic and started affecting the team’s performance, so he sat out games and put in halfass efforts which made the choice easy for the voters.

Another important podcast to add to the pile

He kinda punted the mvp out of spite to showout in the playoffs rested and coasted the last month of the season embiid played really well in the stretch jokic coasted getting the mvp. If jokic would of played seriously he mightve won or it would of have been way closer on the ballots

I low key feel bad for Embiid. He’s gonna be remembered for winning his MVP only due to voter-fatigue.

  11. A big issue was also Jokic and Denver cruised the last part of the season after they locked up first seed, so that didnt really help with people’s perception.

  12. ThaEyeTest

Joel Embiid should have won MVP atleast once in the past 3 seasons. Joker has 2 MVPs in the short amount of time which is insane

  13. craftbeerlink

I am experiencing Austin Reaves fatigue

The thing with MVP is that a good amount of time it is legitimately up for debate, and you cant make a comment that Player X should’ve won it without comparing to Player Y, and then acknowledging that Player Y probably had also done enough to win it themselves, or at least make a strong enough case.

Do I think Jokic should’ve won it this year? Sure. Do I think Embiid was a bad choice? No. Do I think Giannis had just as good a case as either of those 2? Absolutely.

Jokic may well have missed out this year because of voter fatigue, but you could easily argue that he wouldn’t be on his 3rd if not for voter fatigue against Giannis in ’21 when people were publicly making the arguement that he shouldn’t win it because no-one had ever won 3 MVP’s without a title before.

  15. thegodfaubel

The NBA is really the only league where this happens literally every year. Honestly, the amount of years in which the true best player having the best season won MVP in the past decade, its probably maybe 5

  16. LoWE11053211

I thought the racism narrative cost him.

but yes, Jokic’s regular season performance can be argued as good as Embiid

As for the playoff performance, oh well, let’s not hurt too much feeling

  17. MasterTeacher123

Do you think it was strictly voter fatigue?

  18. junkit33

It’s less voter fatigue and more just voters tend to be inclined to like to spread awards around.

It’s a subtle difference between saying “ugh not Jokic again” and “ooh shiny, a new mvp option!”

If Embiid was 10% less deserving, Jokic wins his 3rd straight easily. Embiid had a great year.

  19. the-real-truthtron

So Larry didn’t win three in a row? How do you host a podcast with nba players, and say some stupid shit like that, “for the first time ever”.

  20. Hopeful-Cable-7790

Larry Legend: am i a joke to you?

  21. ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

    He isn’t wrong.

Jokic proved to everyone that he is the best player in the world.

Jokic could score more than 30 a game, but it isn’t how the Nuggets are built to play. They need Jokic be a passer first then scorer. That’s why they won the championship.

Joel is great but the fact that he has yet to make a conference final yet in his career even with guys like Harden, Harris, Butler, Simmons and more. The man is a certified choke artist.

In other news: water is wet. Seriously, nobody with a working brain is of any other opinion.
