Nikola Jokic is making some rethink the Timberwolves’ Towns-Gobert pairing + Dame trade talk

Some of the loudest critics of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ trade for Rudy Gobert may be rethinking their position given the rise of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference. (Never mind that Jokic was already a two-time MVP when the trade happened…) Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) breaks down why it’s a correct assertion, even if the timing feels somewhat silly. Also, a look at more Damian Lillard trade discussion and notes on Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels.

  1. Can you please before every show play that clip when whole arena in Mineapolis chatting give us Nuggets…..please🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  2. I would like coach Finch to roll out a more consistent line-up this year. They just were all over the place last year. I get it, injuries, trades and all that. Denver seemed to play the same line-up all year. When they got to the playoffs everyone knew where to be and what to do. They steamrolled there way to a championship.

  3. I'm sorry, Steven Adams, who got played off the floor in the Memphis series in 2022, has given the Wolves trouble?

  4. Lmao no. This is so much cope. What does Jokic have to do with the T-Wolves two center lineup? The Nuggets play one center, the best one in the world. Towns is a traffic cone on defense especially at the 4. He's not Aaron Gordon heck even MPJ is a better rim protector from the weak side than him. Add to this, KAT's shooting is so much less valuable at the 4. His value is playing at the 5 so that you can play five out. Playing him with Rudy just means he's a good offensive four and a terrible defensive 4. One of the worst things to happen last year for the Wolves is KAT getting hurt. Not because it killed the Wolves but rather because it gives the delusional front office and portion of the fans the chance to say "we don't know if it worked yet so we gotta give it one more year!!!".

This nonsense with Denver pretending like we gave them a tough series is farcical. We didn't give them a tough time STOP IT. Ok so we got two bigs to throw at Jokic so maybe it's a slightly better matchup than other teams we'd get our ass kicked by IT STILL ISN'T ENOUGH against the "good matchup". WE WILL NEVER BEAT DENVER why are we pretending like it even matters if that matchup is slightly better with double bigs? The slight matchup "advantage" by having two bigs against DEN (still don't buy that) isn't worth the two massive salaries on our books blocking us from having a more functional starting 5. This is making me crazy. I realize you want to be positive but you know this is wrong stop trying to sell it.

BTW Jokic put up 26/12/9 on us in that series on crazy efficiency. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE TALKING ABOUT "the two bigs helped". In what world is getting gentleman swept by a guy averaging a triple double GOOD?????
