Well I think it's true. Pat needs to demand the ball but Lavine needs to understand that as well and more importantly, Billy Donovan needs to do something about it, he is the coach after all.
I think with Patrick Williams what you see is what you get. A role player who will give you 10 points and 4 rebounds per game with solid defense. I think he's shown this is his ceiling. I could be wrong (If I end up wrong I'll be happy for him) but from what we've seen from Williams, I have a hard time seeing him becoming anything more than a solid role player.
He should be playing the wing, mainly the 3. that 4 spot in this offense does not suit his default style of play. Other then record, He will be the #1 factor in Debo being traded at the deadline or extended.
Great video
I have a realistic amount of confidence in pat, but i think a big thing thats gonna help him is if fans stop expecting so much, and certainly not act like they can read his mind and do some mental diagnosis on this guy. It really is starting to bother me when fans say, "he just has to stop overthinking things and be more aggressive." The reality is hes probably just maintaining an amount of usage that the coaching staff is telling him to, and that's because they see him in practice and in games and notice that when he starts to be aggressive and take more shots, his efficiency drops. So let's all stop acting like we know how to fix this guy with a simple solution when the reality is it's inherently complicated, and there are a lot of details in his game that may not allow him to be the player we all want him to be right now
I think the lack of a real starting pg will be the demise of this teams playoff hope. I hate to say it, but I strongly believe this is a lottery team. 2 guys taller than 6’8 on roster and neither plays defense…
I wanna see Demar either off this team or on the bench, and PWill starting at SF. Sorry, but Demar is stunting PWills development. Young players need the opportunities to take as many shots is they need to develop their confidence. How can we expect him to develop his confidence? If not, only is the coach catering to Demar and Zach as the alpha players but also if the coach doesn’t even put him in positions to be an effective score.
Plus, Pastor Williams said that he wants to play the wing. He can’t do that if damar is the starting small forward when the Mari is actually a guard so case in point either move the Marr to the bench or trade him and let Patrick Williams become the Kawhi type player. He drew comparisons from when he was drafted.
It’s critical for the bulls As a whole in general
And pat will ain’t finna have a break year until we rebuild it’s jus the fax we don’t even run plays through him we treat him as a 3&d guy cuz of Zach and demar
i see coby white taking a big leap next season, once that dude can consistently hit shots its over
16 ppg 6 rpg
I expect Patrick Williams to make some gradual improvement, but it won't be a breakout season or anything like that, and that's good enough.
I need 14 and 6 from Pat Will this year. Idk is that too much to ask? Am I being unreasonable?
I'd only lose hope on Pat IF the Bulls decides to do a rebuild and keep Pat as its best player available and he still plays the same.
Stepping out of my pessimistic box, I honestly think Williams' ceiling could be Pascal Siakim. I would be elated if he reached that, however, as I mentioned, I am pessimistic about that ever happening.
I don't think pat was bad last year. He was the guy taking on other teams best players when they weren't centers or point guards.
Really appreciate you always pointing out the big setbacks Pat has had so far that are out of his control. . I really think that Pat’s success relies on our system supporting him in making him actually a part of our offensive scheme. We are so hard on this very young kid, but he missed a full year and we have truly yet to see Billy draw up anything consistent or substantial for Pat in way of offensive growth and primary scoring rotation. Which is what we saw with Lauri as well. I would love to see Pat play the 3. We need a real PF to make that work, but that’s the spot I really think Pat is gonna shine. Given support from Billy AND support from our stars. Especially Zach.
Best case scenario Pat becomes the third leading scorer replacing Vuc… Worse case wis BD doesn’t utilizes him or White correctly and we get more of the same with slight improvement. What I do know is that Paw has been putting in the work during the summer. There’s multiple videos of him during pickup games dominating, being aggressive and scoring at will. All of the things we want to see him improve on g has been working on. I’m just not confident BD is a good enough coach to bring this out of Paw and White like Thibs would have done.
Pat should get paid the same as Ayo. If even that.
i hate seeing people say “he should play the 3” like that changes anything about his game. he’s still a poor rebounder and not a good enough passer to have the ball be in his hands as a point forward and still gets blownby by smaller defenders.
Food in single plastic packaging? Oh no.
If Pat can take 4 to 5 shots more and average 15ppg pulling down 6 to 8 rebounds and crashing the offensive boards to give us more second chance points that would go a long way towards the Bulls pushing to be a top 4 seed in the east this season I think. Passive to Aggressive Pat will make the world of difference for his overall confidence and team success.
Good points but you know who else this season is critical for?? The front office. Pat and others will continue to pay for shitty roster construction decisions. Could he play more assertively? Absolutely! He's playing out of position on a team where the 3 stars who are supposed to lead us to wins don't mesh and don't play defense. Pat's the 4th option on a team of two ball-dominant wings and has no plays ran for him. The front office knows they messed up big time so now they are relying on Pat, Ayo, and Coby to make up the margin for those close games because they know the roster they built failed but can't admit it. I hope they feel as if their jobs are on notice.
It’s like he has the skills but he’s lacking the mindset
Last year was supposed to be his breakout year. He trained with DeMar over last summer. I'm not gonna say he's a bust, but he's probably not a starter on a playoff team. If he can't provide scoring, the BULLS would be better off with a true pf that would provide better rebounding and rim protection.
