Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks Keep Getting Better…
This video looks at the Dallas mavericks and how they continue to improve their team around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in free agency and through the 2023 nba draft
Lively can not be a day 1 starter… not if the Mavs want to reach the finals. The kid is talented, no question. But he barely played 20 minutes at the college level! I would be glad is he is ready to start in 2 years. Dallas wants to be a good PO team. And you can not do that with a rookie starting Center that is so extremely raw. I dare you to name the last PO team with a rookie Center starting… and then tell me how old he was!
If anything, O-Max has better chances to have a real rotation spot this season, although Jones Jr will most likely take minutes away from him,. They have similar skillsets, but Jones is just more experienced. Overall the rotation is very deep right now, maybe to deep. I hope we can somehw get a true starting center for THJ+Holmes (or Maxi) and some picks. My dream would be Allen, although unlikely. But Capela would also be a good possbility (in a possible Toronto/Siakam to Atlanta trade).
But overall I agree that Dallas got way better. But I think they need at least 1 or 2 more years before they can really contend. And the good thing is… they have all important players under contract for at least 2 seasons.
"Jason Kidd doesn't like to play rookies" <– that's an easily debunked talking point that I keep hearing online. Look how many minutes Jabari Parker got in his rookie year in Milwaukee. Malcolm Brogden was rookie of the year the following year under Kidd. Mason Plumlee played in 70 games in Brooklyn as a rookie. Comments like this don't make sense. Research is easy. Also, people claim that Kidd doesn't play young players. Giannis (19 at the start of that season) was Milwaukee's leading minutes player in Kidd's first year at Milwaukee.

Extremely well thought out critique of one of the most complex lineups I’ve ever seen for the Mavericks Thank you for the effort.
