[Koreen] Pascal Siakam is eligible for a 5 year/$307.23M deal next summer if he makes an All-NBA team this coming season.

> Since 140 percent of Siakam’s salary next year — the new limit for an extension for a designated veteran — would be well above the 30 percent of the 2024-25 salary cap that is Siakam’s maximum salary, Siakam’s starting number is obvious. If next year’s salary cap grows by 10 percent over this year’s number — the maximum it can jump under the terms of the new CBA — the cap for 2024-25 would be set at about $149.62 million. Although an extension for Siakam would likely be worded to indicate he would be eligible for whatever 30 percent of the cap ended up being, the approximate number would be $44.89 million based on the highest possible cap jump. Add in 8 percent year-over-year raises, which the Raptors can offer him, the total would be approximately $202.28 million over four years, or $240.17 million over five if you want to fold in this coming season. If there is room to negotiate, it wouldn’t be much. Siakam has accomplished enough in the NBA that he can ask for all of that. Lesser players have received similar deals.

> The Raptors could offer Siakam a five-year supermax contract in free agency next summer if Siakam were to make All-NBA this coming season, which would start around $52.37 million and total about $307.23 million.

> Players who made right around that percentage of the cap this past season: Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Kristaps Porziņģis, Jrue Holiday, Ben Simmons and, yes, Siakam. Those players accounted for the 19th to 25th biggest individual cap hits this past season.

202 is the max I’d think they’d give him.

He has all NBA talent but it will be hard to make it if we are in the play in game range again this season

He’s also only eligible if he stays with the Raptors. Hence why it’s in his interest to squash any trade deals.

And while I think it’s unlikely he gets offered the full super max he could still make a lot more than the current max offer.

we’re extending him before the season starts

We’d be stupid to give him the full super max. We’d probably have to compromise somewhere in between the regular max and the super.

Imo the difference between a max and a supermax shouldnt count against this salary cap. Then it would actually help small market teams keep their star players.

Both times Pascal made All-NBA it was largely due to team success. 2nd seed in 2020 and a bounce back 5th seed in 2022 after being a lotto team the year before. If we’re in the play-in range again it’s very unlikely he makes All-NBA, and that’s not even accounting for the fact it’s positionless now (which is somewhat offset by the games played requirement)

With all due respect I hope he doesn’t make all nba

What is the point of paying a dude $60M/year who’s not gonna win you a playoff series? Only spend that money on him if you also have a real stud on the squad that he can complement. And it’s not like he sells tickets or jerseys. I don’t get it.

Keep on mind that next season the all-nba teams are going to be positionless. I’m not sure if that helps his case.

I’m going to repeat this into existence. Get Dame, give Siakam the super duper duper max, win! It’s not my money. MLSE can afford it. Rogers and Bell are taking my money, so Pascal should take some of theirs!

I’m honestly not too concerned unless we see a crap to ton of injuries next year and a bunch of guys don’t reach the number of games required.

I do hope he gets that but I also hope he immediately gets traded to another team.

If it’s good enough for Jaylen brown it should be perfectly acceptable for potentially 3 time all nba Siakam.
